Couple of pics of my tropical set up. Going to change it soon, getting bored of it.

I have a Samurai fighter fish, a red tail shark, a leopard pleco, an upside down catfish (well funny), 6x neon tetra, 5x guppies and a baloon molly.

This pleco has grown so quick! He's my monster of the tank!

Erm... that's quite a full tank. And you know the plec is going to get over 2ft, yeah?

Yeah but the neon tetras and guppies are only small and don't seem to be growing at all! They all seem happy and the tank was boring with just 3 or 4 fish.

Yeah i know the pleco is going to get big but didn't realise that big...guy in shop said he was fine for a 30ltr tank confused.gif

They guy in the shop lied to you to get a sale, then. Not the first time and most likely not the last. 2ft is a very conservative estimate on how big it will get, mine is currently nudging 15". The length of time it will take to get that big though is dependent on how well you feed them, mine's taken a few years to get that big.

I'm thinking of going marine with my 240L.... Trying to see if it is possible to do it without spending thousands (hundreds ok, but thousands no)

Best bet is to probably buy a running system from someone on ebay instead of making my own since the cost of all the bits will easily exceed the cost of buying full systems... (ie/i good skimmer for a tank my size costs 300 quid...some systems on ebay have the said skimmer and the whole lot can be had for 450 quid, which also includes the metal halide lights which cost a lot too)

but im wondering if some live rock and coral can be kept with T8 lighting....?

began my restock of the 240 today, livebearers to go next time i go to swindon. Today i got 4 kribs, 20 neons and some silk plants, rearranged the tank so the kribs make their own territories. After the livebearers are gone i'll be getting more tetras
