KNITERIDER Posted July 30, 2009 Share Posted July 30, 2009 (edited) what a long bloody dayyyyyyy. well where do i start... i was hoping to suprise everyone at fordfair by buying and turning up in a car (most of you know mine are off the road) worthy of showing. it was a car id wanted for a long while and was hell bent on getting. the car was advertised by a member on here, it was a red cosworth kitted cabriolet. after numerouse texts, phonecalls and pms over the last month to get a good price and exact details of the car i was ready to go and get it either today or tomorrow from near essex. the original plan being get the train down tomorrow (pay day) and drive it home, after telling wayne (HEAVYRIGHTFOOT) he informed me he was making some deliveries down there and would happily take me down, even tho i needed to be there at 6AM and it was well out of his way seeing as he was going straight to london. just to add because i dont get paid till tomorrow wayne was also lending me 300quid yet another inconvinience untill i was paid anyway wayne gets up at 10 past 12 this morning to drive down to pick me up (his van is limited to 52mph) and i get up just after 2am for him to pick me up at 2:45am anyway we gets there for 6am expecting to see a MINT conditioned MINT bodied recently resprayed cosworth kitted mk5 cabriolet... what we were greeted with was what i can only describe as a nail. the following defects were (that i can remember) : 1.flaking filler AND metal from both arches2. very uneven badly fitted rear arches3.mass overspray of both red paint and primer4.large hole in passenger door seal (could easily get a finger in it)5.both front splash guards (in arches) broken and hanging down6.both doors did not line up (protruded from the car nowhere near flush)7.petrol filler cap did not line up with kit and was basically a hole into the car8.passenger skirt cracking where it connected to the car9.poor spray job10.large scratch down to bare metal on passenger door11.both bumpers hanging off, the rear bumper brackets were hanging down twisted rite round the front tyrapped on12.poorly fitted rear lights with no seals13.tappety engine14.wiring all over the plaice under bonnet these are what i can remember off the top of my head. now fare enough if i was being overly picky, opinions might differ but obviouse things like most of the above, i should have been informed of. im not stupid, an 18 year old car isnt gonna be like it was when it came out of the showroom, but a car that has JUST been resprayed and described as mint i would expect the body to have been solid not flaking off in my fingers and things to have been reasembled properly...and the car cleaned also maybe?... its not like i or wayne were just around the corner, this cost me a days annual leave, VERY little sleep then the humiliation of putting wayne through so much trouble on the promise itd be worth it (for the car) i then had to stay with wayne for the remainder of the working day for him then to have to go out of his way again to drop me off. i apologise for the length of this, i will add the member "apologised" but insists he thinks the body is still "mint" but i feel very taken advantage of luring me to a MINT car in the hope id buy it when it clearly wasnt. im sure wayne will back me up on the above points as he went over the car with me. i just want to say a MASSIVE thank you to wayne for coming down at that stupid hour and ferrying me about, TOP man. ps stoney...can i have a lift to fordfair please Edited July 30, 2009 by KNITERIDER Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Very harsh mate, id be very p*ssed off if i was let down like that, especially if you were looking forward to going to ford fair in it. escortedal Posted July 30, 2009 Share Posted July 30, 2009 pure bummer there mate. i know how you feel, i looked at over six escorts (all described as good condition) that where heaps of rubbish.i didnt travel the distance you did. but i think people submise that if you travelled a fair distance your gonna buy it any way so as not to have a wasted journey, i think it makes it worse that some one on here can try to rip some one off as i feel that as a group with a common interest we should be fair to each other and not try to pull a fast one. did you not demand compo for your travel cost. i know i would have..good luck trying to find a decent car in future. one will pop up. minedid as i was giving up hope of a decent escort remaining out there..alan.
