whats the £35 for mate? you've spent £1200 so far as the car is? O.....M....G!!! yes, well...... 1k on the car seats, boot install, doorcards, coilovers, everything chappers listed, then it was £220 for delivery to bring the car to manchester from essex, then i have got other little things for it sparco steering wheel £50(without boss kit), 30 odd quid on auto glm lol! but it just keeps mounting up all the time! you spent a grand on the seats boot install and coilovers or is that with the car aswell then proceeded to buy a £50 steering wheel and £30 on autoglmn dont you think that would have been better spent on getting the car to a running spec/order personally i would be transferring stuff over from "bloo" onto your running escort and proceed to modify that one instead of pouring money into a car that you (not been funny) know nothing about trust me on this and this is how i got into escorts and wayne can backme up on this as he took it off my hands kreg cavalier gsi2000 (bought with blown head gasket) £500 for car cost in the region of £200 to sort myself (head skim and test remove broken manifold studs replaced blown core plugs new gasket set) got running was a quick car lower arm snapped on drivers side dragging driveshaft out of cv joint (£100) was told had sills done but thought i would check found the sills to be completely rotten apart from a 5" plate on passenger side rear so went further removed back bumper (could put my arm throught the wing and pull a coat that was in the boot out through it ) checked underneath the car and found engine bay begging to split from the bulk head stripped and made money back but bye bye cav gsi 2000 m calibra 2.0 8v se4 bought for £1350 spent £400 getting it through an mot then proceded to spend on the car eventually 8v let go mr matty bought a 16v redtop to break bought the engine and gearbox etc fitted to mine too eager to get it on the road had know reverse and a selection of gears not in order (linkage was out of line) half way home oil cooler hoses split 5secs later bottomend seized mate towed it home stripped engine down got a second block with pistons and crank and rebuilt take into costs of head pressure test and skim new gaskets new oil cooler hoses new timing belt kit oils and antifreeze once rebuilt found water leak (three way hose linking water pump head and bottom rad hose ) then heater matrix was leaking time top fire up leaking oil not a good sign so booked into garage to find out why stripped down and found bottom end cracked told them to leave and would settle up £150 so including price of car and mot lost over 2grand probably and car went for scrap lesson learnt will not remove an engine unless really need to and if price starts hiking up time to gett rid and cut your losses in no way to i begrudge what your doing/ intensions are for the car but relly think about how much it will cost/time to do the job/is it worth it in long run good advise this, this is why i scrapped my first car -------------------- ![]() Oversteer is when you hit the fence with the back of the car. Understeer is when you hit the fence with the front of the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the fence. Torque is how far the fence moves after you hit it |

I have a 1.8 TD Mk5b which I am about to scrap.
Its an LX so has electric windows and central locking. Its only done 51k. Only problem is that the engine is quite lumpy and a bit smokey when its cold, but as soon as its warm then it runs fine. It did fail (on part) with emmissions though, but that have been because they never let it warm up. If you can sort the lumpy-ness then the engine will be fine, plus all the wirings there. £150 if you come and collect it from Carnforth (about an hour up the M6) -------------------- Moderator - dan@escortevolution.co.uk
