yes its ilegal without lense amd glass modification as fog lights dont disperse light correctly and the ntensity is to great.

no, never in a million years will it pass.

you will need the switch (pm me if you need one), ad the wiring is usually there behind the dashboard and behind the front bumper

The only bulbs that will fit in the fog light and white bulbs, unless you make another hole in the casing for an indicator bulb

If you can change the bulbs to the small push-fit sidelight bulbs they would be legal as sidelights original.gif

there are low intensity bulbs available for fogs thar fall into the sidelight catagory (they often cost more than brighter bulbs tho iirc)

as for wiring them up as standard fogs, I made my own loom which isnt as complicated as it sounds, just wire, a 2-way switch and a automobile relay, wired with the relay to the switched-live headlights wire so that the fogs can only be used in conjunction with the headlights as is the norm and legal requirement for british roads.

to change the bulbs into indicator bulbs, wire into the indy circuit and use some high temp orange tint spray till desired level of colour. (did see some on Egay a while back)

Sorry for pulling up an old topic but...

I wired my foglights into my full beam, I just used a relay, job done.

Better vision at night, looks good and they don't blind anyone on the road as you only have your dip on when there is on-coming traffic.

Basically spot lights, I got spoken to by the police one night and they gave my car a check over, checked all my lights and they never said anything when I put my full beam on.

For the mot, I just simply un-plugged the relay and plugged it back in after she passed.

Cheers,
Fraz

I've been pulled over a couple of times and told to turn my fogs off at night, the police told me it would dazzle other road users.

Tells you what though they're bloody good for a bit of extra light when used on very dark roads, combined with full beam it gives you a brilliant view in the dark.

Why dont you just wire them up as normal fogs mate, its a usefull function to have?
