No rattles or distortion at reasonable levels.
Was thinking of installing one of my 2 Alpine amps to power the speakers, but decided against it, so might be selling them
and a 10" Pioneer Sub!!!

I have a Pioneer MP3 headunit, 17cm Alpine speakers in the doors and Alpine 6 x 9 in the rear quarters, it sounds fine to me.
No rattles or distortion at reasonable levels.

Sorry to crash the post but its on the subject! Where on ebay can i get some good but cheap sound proofing? and is it a case of just taping it to the inside of the door or?

change of subject I know, but is there anything I should know before I put my Kenwood head unit into my Escort mk6? I mean is there anything I need to buy before I go ahead and put it in?
That facia adapter if you just have a standard ford in. And probably the connectors in halfords. about 15 quid the lot i think.
