Started on 1st May when i noticed the show was coming up, i then went damn how can i show as all the deadlines had gone! all except 1, that was to be in the top 25 show and shine comp. I knew no chance of me getting into that but it said if your not successful then you get to go in the outdoor bit and show as a regular! so i entered just to get in somewhere! Sent off a dozen pics and spec of the car and 2 weeks later got a letter saying congratulations you got in! OMG....????? Then i thought crap, now i have to get everything done to the car in a matter of a week and done well!!! Then the Friday before the show i got a call while at work, it was the owner of the show and he asked if i could help him out on the Satarday (thats the next day) and help advertise the show in Peterborough town centre with my car! At this point the car was in bits front end wise! lol I ended up thinking oh well something different to do! So did it, got free petrol, lunch, entry to BMF bike show at the same ground as his show next week, so all good! Soz no pics of that bit as there on the phone, So anyway rolled on next weekend, worked on the car a fair bit, putting on the new 300mm brakes, PBV, Oil catch tank etc etc, got it all done, but not without its problems! lol So day 1 of the show! Got there and felt all special seeing all these display cars going into the indoor bit where id be! lol. had to wait a while first so cleaned the car quickly. Then i went in, parked up in the top 25 section. with a little red carpet and everything! lol. Polished, Mirror Glazed, and cleaned anything and everything i could! as it was indoor light i could see polish easier so cleaned it very well! at this point i got a complimentary little cleaning kit, being the section was sponsered by autoglym! Then by chance i went back to the car at 11:30am to find judges looking at all the cars again! so i got to actually speak to them this time, all i really said was about how this wasnt a car built by companies and an unlimited budget but by me. They seemed fairly impressed i guess, anyway they said judging was at 2pm, thought is there any point in me going? I mean look at the cars here? Went to the award thingy. Best Interior, Hyundai CoupeBest Exterior, Trailor queen reddy orange clio williams (since the owner has had it, he has only driven it 12 miles) wtf???Best Ice, 47k Escort manBest Engine Bay, 90k Subaru Impreza (was a nice car, just didnt think the engine looked all that great - also only 1 i thought i had a remote chance in)Best Car of Show, 206 convertable (bet he was happy as the car was completely sponsered and he needed to win as his sponsers wouldnt have been happy! lol) Then a special award... it went to someone who had the passion to build his own car, learnt to re trim, learnt bodywork, learnt ice, learnt spraying etc, and it went to........ TERRY WEBSTER! OMFG thats me??? lol i didnt win a trophy as it was only a sort of recognition award but i did win a f**k off massive cleaning kit (concours collection) £60 worth for free! not bad! Anyway here's my car! Very rare to win anything at these things as there are people who rely on winning them, sponsered cars and they all take it wayyyyy to seriously! the clio gets trailored everywhere and no word of a lye atleast 6 hours each show day cleaning and wiping it where as my mates £50,000 106 with that white dash gets ragged everywhere! and left on the street over night! As said you should enter more competitions with it, I think you should deffinately keep the car for much longer yet and keep going further with it trust me i have ideas if i was to really go for it! money wouldnt let me tho! all i really want to do to it now is get the rear beam and build a dash! thats it, otherwise im looking at alot of bodywork yet again and another painting etc etc, all that money i could use to put towards a newer faster car? its a tough one!
