Squiz
You know how the alarm works I assume ?Did you try locking the doors with key and leaving the window open. Then opening the door with the internal handle ....If that doesnt set it off I guess you dont have one I think from practice the only way you can get boot alarm to workis if you lock the car from outside, with the key, crawl in through an open windowand unlatch the boot by moving the rod down to the unlock position. Its seperated from the main system and if unlocked with the key will never go off.Im assuming you know all this but thought I better check

Squiz
To unlock the boot from inside you push the actuator rod down Have you got double locking on yours or just single locking ?

Danny_Zetec
if you locked it and it wouldn't open from the inside that means its double locked doesn't it?
caled
You can tell by whether the red LED under the clock flashes or stays on for 3 seconds. AFAIK the red LED stays on for 3 seconds when you've double locked it, which you do by turning the key anticlockwise and then clockwise to lock it. You should still be able to unlock the car door from the inside when the window is open, unless as stated you double lock it. I did it the other day when I was in the petrol station and set my alarm off. D'oh! But, with the boot thing, surely you're using the car key to open the boot, and thus turning the alarm off? Or opening it from the inside when the car has been locked from the outside, and that would surely turn the alarm off, too?

Barry-334
I didn't realise mine had an alarm till it went off!! without knowing, I had activated it, by holding the key in the "lock" position for more than a second. i then opened the boot and the alarm sounded. There is no alarm switch on the bootlocks, they can only be armed/disarmed from either of the doorlocks. I know it had something to do with the flashing sequence of the LED by the clock, as Caled mentioned, but tbh, I can never remember what the sequences mean!! PS it's not a siren alarm, more of a horn alarm! (no puns please!)

robexor
This is on here from someone else but here u go.. This is handy for making sure all the alarm pins work ectFirst of all unlock car, ignition off, all doors and boot closed, bonnet open, and you will need your key. Then press the bonnet pin switch rapidly (like 8 times in less than 8 seconds) [LOCATED ABOVE DRIVERS HEADLIGHT] You will/should hear a beep, (more if self test initiates and your'e still pressing the switch like a mad man)NOW ITS IN TEST MODE DO THE BELOW Open the drivers door = one beep Lock drivers door with key = two beeps Unlock drivers door with key = two beeps Open drivers side rear door (if you have one) = one beep Unlock tailgate BUT DO NOT OPEN, = one beep Open tailgate = one beep Do the same with the passenger doors as you did with the drivers side. If everything beeps as listed above then all the switches are ok and if there is a fault; it will be either in the wiring (likely) or the module (less likely). If there is a missing beep then here is what could be at fault. IMPORTANT, contrary to very popular belief, the alarm is an independent operating system, and it DOES NOT use the interior light pin switches to monitor the doors opening and closing. If any of the doors fail to beep when being opened then the fault is in the 'door ajar' micro switch or micro switch circuit in the corresponding door. The switch is fitted to the top of the door latch inside the door, (don't forget that the wiring can be at fault) the most common micro switch fault is the switch itself 'falling off' the latch, which in most cases requires it to be just 'clicked' back on. BUT the tab on the micro switch is crafted from quails egg shells and breaks off when farted near, rendering it bin fodder. so be careful and be warned. If there is no or only one beep when the locks are operated the fault will be in the alarm activating switch or circuit to it, this switch is found clipped to the lock barrel, they are notoriously crap and commonly faulty, although it is highly possible that it has also fallen off or the last owner 'forgot' to put it back on when messing in the door, (I know ) If there is no beep when the boot is unlocked or lifted there is a fault in the latch micro switch, rare but pops up occasionally, the wiring to this switch runs through the rubber gaiter at the top of the tailgate next to the hinge, and is very prone to breaking. If you are unable to initiate self test by operating the bonnet switch this will be for one of 2 reasons, 1: The bonnet switch or circuit is the fault; 2: You don't actually have an alarm You have now successfully completed the test, to exit self test either leave the car alone for 20 seconds or switch the ignition to pos II, Hope this comes in handy lol :tongue.gif Edited August 6, 2008 by robexor
