star-escort
i didnt know i had an alarm until i read this. After you have locked it and you open the bonnet the alarm goes off. Open the boot - NOTHING. Yeah we tried the bonnet at FF, i didn't work. but when you pressed down the button .. (that tell s the car its shut) it beeped.. mr shifter
mine doesnt beep if you push the button, and to be fair its a pretty feeble alarm anyway.More of a token effort from ford. Edited August 6, 2008 by mr shifter

star-escort
Ok. i followed the instructions! All the doors and boot beeped. I looked all my doors holding it anti clock wise then locking it.. opened the bonnet and pressed the pressure thing stupidly.. and the alarm went off. Humm ablest i know it works. just not when you open the boots
robexor
ok another way to test the boot is to open the boot, lock the car wait 10 seconds and then shut the boot and the same time as shutting the boot the red LED under the clock should flash once, if it does the then boot pin works that activated the alarm if it don't then the boot pin could be fecked. ALSO Unlock the boot, but don't lift it open, then lock the car, wait 10 sec's the lift the boot open, it should set the alarm off Edited August 6, 2008 by robexor
Squiz
Yeah the boot will work you just have to "force" entry (ooeerr)But that means as above opening the boot with means other than a key As for double locking do you have it or not you never gave the results if double locked the only way the door can be unlocked is with a key from outside.it disables the interior handle pulls. With regard to the clock led flashing dont take that as gospel Mine only operates for 3 seconds when ignition is turned on to show no fault.Doesnt flash at any other time including when self armed.but the whole system works exactly as it should. Ford alarms are useless on escort IMO, as bro had one on his GTi, window got smashed lots of things nicked and no alarm sounds. IMO you need an alarm to go off in that situation, as thats one of the most common problems

Barry-334
ok, so people may not react to an alarm going off, but if someone was trying to gain access to the car, and the alarm went off, they're not likely to hang around, so therefore the car isn't stolen. The alarm did it's job, it's a deterent, not a cure.
Squiz
nd the oldest rule in the book ...... Dont leave valuables in plain sight and anything nickable leave in the boot area How many thieves smash a window on a car that is old and looks like it has nowt in ?Especially one that any thief knows they cant nick as it has an immobilser built into it.I reckon its a good alarm and antitheft system for saying its factory installed... The alarm is the deterent, as i say IMO its a waste of time an alarm that doesn't go off when eg a window is broken and therefore doesn't do what IMO its meant to do, is a waste of time. And if one is going of i'm interested!
