robexor
Basically my blowers have stopped working and the blower speed switch on the dash works fine. i got the fecking blowers out !!!! OMG what a pain in the a** that its, Wipers off.Scuttlepanel off.Disconnected Battery and removedUn screwed 6 bolts from bulk head.moved power cabels ect.Got the fecking plastic cover off the top of the blower, man that was hard. The connectors where all in tact, a 3 pin multi plug on the left and a small 1 multi plug on the right. The single connector goes back in to the motor it self. The multi plug is the the 3 speed settings, using a multi tester , i tested each connector and turned the speed switch in the car each time, i got a 12v reading on each connector.I also got a reading from the single connector when there was power going to each speed connector. So......................................................... The logical out come that all the electrical circuits in the car and on top of the motor seem to be fine. I take it the actual motor must be fecked.. ?? what do u think. Some picis. http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa17/robexor/Escort/DSC00250.jpg The pain in the ass plastic cover to remove. http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa17/robexor/Escort/DSC00252.jpg http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa17/robexor/Escort/DSC00255.jpg
smithyandco
Motor could be jammed... are you able to turn the motor by hand then try again? If not or if it doesn't work I'd say it's a trip to the scrappy for a new one!
robexor
yeah they spin freeley Is there a way i could rig up some power to it to see if it turns by its self
MCCORNY11
i would say it was your fuse box but the way i tested mine was keep the single connector on the resistor pack and remove the 3 multiplug and use a bit of wire from the positive side of the battery and just touch on one on the 3 connectors to see if it turns
robexor
How can it be the fuse box, i get a 12v feed from each connector on the multiplug, surely if the fusebox was knackered the multi plug wouldn't work. ??
MCCORNY11
did you test the resistor pack? its what the multiplug plugs into?
robexor
well i presume that if the resistor pack is buggered i wouldn't be able to get a reading off the little connector on the left as in i put a multimeter on one of the multi terminals on the right and put the other multimeter cable on the left and get a reading
robexor
Right, im still stumped. I got another set of blowers and still the same thing, they just don't work when using power from the car... I connected the multiplug and used the earth from the battery incase of bad earth.. nothing, connected them to a 12v battery charger, and wooooooooooosh works fine.. I AM STUCK I JUST DON'T GET IT!!! Do these blowers need a constant dead on 12V to make them spin cos i get about 11.4 11.7v coming from the multiplug, not 12V dead on. What else controls the power for these, the fuse in the fuse box is fine, any relays ect Please help this is doing me nut in and its freezing at the mo lol
MCCORNY11
see the resistor pack on your pic? on my car its the other way round with the 3 pins closer to the battery side
robexor
are u sure fella, i think u got it the wrong way round, i got 2 of these now and they are both the same, u may of put the whole blower unit in the round way round or the resistor pack is wrong way round. i don't think that would make a difference TBH
