Welshy_Pete
Hello there are 2 resistors also 2 diffrent blowers for the ford escort mk6. Cars with air con have that one yoy sent this fella the resistor picture on its own. The one in the fella car who having the problems is the same as the mk3, mk4, mk5, mk6 heater blowers and resistors with out air con. Try changing the speed switch inside the car these can go and stop working. There are 2 resistors for the heater blower on the ford escort mk6. I know all this had mine apart also owned all these diffrent cars. My number 2 stopped working changed the speed switch then the resistor it worked after fine. But one hell of a job to get the black plastic cover out then getting it back in a nightmare. Try changing the speed switch inside the car these can go and stop working. Welshy_Pete
Try changing the speed switch inside the car these can go and stop working. Also check all the fuses in the fuse box.
robexor
I have checked the fuse, thats fine not blown at all. The weird thing is that the switch must work cos i get power going to ALL 3 connectors on the multiplug. When your number 2 stopped working. did u still get any reading [using a multimeter ]on the number 2 connection on the multiplug or NOT at all. There was reading on all 3 but the resistor just wouldn't do anything going in to that. Soon as I changed the resistor over it worked. It was abit funny at first but then settled in and worked properly after a few days. Not sure why it took a few days but it did then worked fine after. wiser
Not sure if someone has said this as I read the thread quickly but... My blower went recently. I too tried to get it out! I took a live direct from the battery live to the resistor and also bypassed the resistor to see if the fan worked. It did. I got power to the connector but it did not seem to work!. I took the live from the battery direct to the switch and the fan worked at all three speeds. Telling me the switch and fan worked. I then took a live from a spare fuse in the fuse box and it worked. Hence I decided that it needed a new cable from fuse box to the switch. Which is what I did, in my case from a spare fuse point and included an inline fuse. All works fine now. Hope this helps and has not repeated anyone. Wiser. I should add that I got readings from all points in the circuit. Which made no sense at all! Too be honest this may be the proper fix but had heard that it was not always easy to get out and since I could not be sure I decided not to. As I said, I was getting what I thought was good voltage from it (but also everywhere). My method was suggested as a quick fix. . It does require taking out the dash board and I did have to get my hands into tight places to get some of the clips back! lol. I just made sure that the cable was highly rated although I was not sure how high it should be. It just cut the live in the back of the switch, and attached it using auto connectors from halfords. Fuse box may be better but the new cable seems to work fine. Wiser

Wiseri would only replace wire as a last resort! 5 mins to take a fuse box out 5 mins taking the surrounding plastic off! have a look for damaged, dry and worn points and re apply a soldering iron and a dab of solder this the best fix possible! and replace plastic and put back in the car! and enjoy that sense of achievement
robexor
Out how do u get the fusebox out. I can drop it down and see the connectors on top but i cant see what is holding the back of the fusebox in place. ie where it hinges.
