Mk6 to mk5 conversion

Today I have fitted a mk5 RS2000 front end to my mk6 van.

I done the bonnet and bonnet catch no problems.

The bumper would not fit without me removing the washer bottle.Do the washer bottles come in different sizes?Do I need to fit 1 from a mk5?

Now to fit the headlights I was told to remove the little panels with the mk6 headlights bolt to (see photo below)

After removing these I still couldn't get the headlights to fit so removed these,

Still couldn't get them to fit so cut these bits off the front panel,

Was I supposed to remove these bits? The lights then went in but didn't fit that good.I managed to get them placed reasonably with the grill in and didn't look to bad till I tried fitting the sidelights.

There is a big gap on 1 side and I can't seem to get rid of it.

Just after some advice from those that have done it on how they done it. :thumb:

im sure i read somewhere that you have to cut something out the mk6 and replace it with something from the mk5, wing maybe?

i think dubs did his from a mk6 to a mk5 for his cossie rep

miight be worth going through his thread

Yeah I spoke to him a while back and he said it was a straight swap apart from removing the mk6 headlight brackets and moving the bonnet catch.

Sounds strange, i wouldnt have though a van would have a different one?

You will notice a little bit around the side lights, the mk5 wing has a lip there, but the mk6 does not

Yeah the recess where the foglight and indicator go is what hits the washer bottle.

I will have to find some pictures of some mk5s so I can have a look.

I think the problem with the gap is that the indicator may be in the wrong place. As sortedford said there is a bit on the mk5 wing that aint on the mk6.This means that gap I got should be at the bottom.I will strip it all off and have another look at the problem.

Still dont know what to do about the washer bottle. The only thing I could think off is that for some reason they put a different bottle on the vans???

If you got any close ups of the slam panel, front panel or where the hedlights are mounted that would be good.

One observation I've noticed is that you havent used RS lights, i made this mistake and it didnt look right :/

As for the washer bottle im not 100% I never had that problem the bumper just went straight over the top

They are rs headlights as they are the longer ones with the side lights at the end.
