As above realy is it somthing to do with the white socket at the back of the head unit, is it high imput or somthing ?. The reason why im asking is ive

bought a dark grey ford 6000 cd player for £10 so if i could plug a amp to it that would save me a few ££ on getting a aftermarket head unit and it

looks standard to theives if there looking !.

thanks in advance Dan

I had to do what bluliz suggested and bought one for about a tenner. It worked, but you lose the rear set of speakers (unless your amp will run these as well as a sub). Once i switched the headunit over to a sony one, the sound was much better but im not sure whether that was due to the headunit or because i was now running through a dedicated phono output.

I had something similar in that it didnt have a pre-out for an amp, i cut the end off a set of phone leads and connected the wires to a set of speaker out feeds. although i had a dud amp so who knows if itd work. Edited by Scort_CVH

Local audio place which has now closed unfortunately. Lots of places to get them though. One other idea for you, does your amp have a 'high level input', sometimes called 'speaker level input'. You can see the connection for it in the photo below. Again, im pretty sure the quality is inferior to a proper rca output from the headunit but this if this is the route you want to go then the adaptor can be bought for a pound or two. You will still need to get a few meters of wiring anyway to reach the headunit unless you want to unplug the rear speakers (which will become obsolete anyway) and use the wiring already in place for them!

high output sounds like crap, qaulity is awful and the higher your volume go's the distortion is almost x2 worse.

buy a cheapo blaupunkt headunit like the "Santa cruz" model (about £20 the last time I looked on ebay) then buy the £5 4x pre-out, 2x sub-out adapter for the back and presto you have 4 pre-outs and 2 sub-outs.

For the time being ill just use the standard unit and some speakers iv got lying about, ill run the power cables and rca's for when i eventually get a new cd player. My interior is coming out anyway for a good scrub so it makes sense for this to be done thanks for your advice guys.
