shawdreamer
nah m8 wrong once again go on tht link and go to front wheel drive cars and u will clearly see that the v6 weighs bout 30kg less than the turbo! obviously if you had a base 1.6 cav then a v6 cali is gonna weigh more! you honestly dont know nothing so you should probly stop comenting on this thread! been a while since I actually laid my hand on the info and not entirely sure wether it was taken from manuals or web (over 8 years ago now) but Im near as dammit certain that my V6 full spec Cal weighed in above his Mk3 4x4 turbo Cav and around the 200kg mark defo comes to mind when I think on it, however, as I cant lay my hands on the relevant facts right this moment and dont really fancy calling him to get him to dig out any info he might have kept in 8 years concerning it Im kinda left unable to prove my point. I could spend several hours routing round for whatever I need too to prove what Im sayin is correct and I could call my Cav owning mate in the hope he might wanna waste his time doing it too but then again whats the point, by the time (and if I) I find what Im lookin for it'll be all a mute point and eventually just be a waste of time trying to prove something I say is correct while you do likewise. Ill get bored along time before I find anything anyway and as it doesnt actually effect me one way or another wether I do or dont....think Ill not arse with it.... .....carry on Plus a 2.0l Turbo Calibra would absolutley rape a V6 Calibra..... might have mike... never drove a turbo Cal, I just prefered the V6 over any other I had drove
projectrs2k
cavalier turbo 204bhp (power)207 ft-lb (torque)1405 kg kerb weight calibra v6 168bhp (power)166 ft-lb (torque)1280 kg kerb weight calibra maybe lighter but power wise hasnt got a prayer against turbo

stoney
honestly u dont really no wot yr talkin about! for 1 calibras dont way any more than a cavalier(look it up) they are based on the same platform so how would it weigh loads more! the v6 was always known to be the best calibra because of its reliability and speed but the turbo was far quicker and u can get nearly 300bhp for not much nmoney or effort! theres no way that the calibra in the pic is an ecotec its either an 8v or 16v and by the looks of the cloth interior it will be an 8vwhich is still quicker than any escort gti! and the redtops are as quick as an rs2000! they are a big heavy car but they are better to drive than an escort and more comfy/spacious! u should stop knockin these things and realise tht yr 1.6 escort aint ever gonna be as quick!correct me if iam wrong but the eco tec was the replacement 2ltr 16v engine wich replaced the red top in 1992. wich was produced in v6 version aswell. tatty0001
no it wasnt you need to go and get your facts right once again the redtop was stopped in 1995 and thats when the ecotec stepped in, i know this is a ford site but u should do a little research 1st, and yes the turbo was faster but it isnt as reliable as the v6 thats why the v6 is known as the best calibra not anything else. [edit] Engine DataThe Calibra had several engines. 2.0 L 8-valve SOHC I4 - 115 PS (85 kW) (all years) (C20NE) 2.0 L 16-valve DOHC I4 - 156 PS (110 kW) (1990-1995) (C20XE) 2.0 L 16-valve DOHC 'Ecotec' I4 - 136 PS (100 kW) (1995-1997) (X20XEV) 2.0 L 16-valve DOHC turbocharged I4 - 204 PS (150 kW) (1992-1997) (C20LET) 2.5 L 24-valve DOHC 'Ecotec' V6 - 170 PS (125 kW) (1994-1997) (C25XE) '94-'96; (X25XE) '

tatty0001
what i dont get is why you dont just google for stuff 1st b4 commentin and looking like a tool! oh but i failed to realise that wikepedia and other calibra websites dont know as much about calibras as you! the 8v was never fitted with the sri130 engine as it never needed to because of the redtop! PeeWee
Ok enough is enough, we have one person here actually interested & all else making it their own discussion. Its getting so bad just lately im considering spells of post review until certain people learn to think before posting & potentially ruining someone elses topic.Think very wisely before answering this post.
