shawdreamer
no fault lights showing of any kind, system seems to work perfectly but..... at random times when you insert a disc and close the tray itll make a "Errrr Errrrr" noise then not spin the disk, the only option that comes up on the dash is "open tray". If you persist with it a few minutes (usually requires repeatedly opening and closing the tray) it'll eventrually kick in normally and play fine, after which it'll behanve normally even when you change games. Am I right in thinking that the disk drive motor maybe on its way out because to me it sounds like the drive is struggling to spin the disk initially? ScORTED
common fault with certain drives... over time it will become a open tray every time from what i've heard i'd get it replaced if its under a year old or if its over get it sold and buy another unless you fancy dismantling it

LiamGTR
Why not install the game onto your HDD and then play it from the HDD? That way the disk has no reason to spin

LiamGTR
For the sake of buying just a 30gb hdd, to save your xbox from breaking ? I would...
smithyandco
Grab another drive off eBay... I'll fit and test the bugger in 30mins... It's a PC in an awkward case... not difficult to rip to bits and put back together. Will void your warrenty if you have one though... If you still have a warrenty, send it back... if not DIY it is! sidrick
Why not install the game onto your HDD and then play it from the HDD? That way the disk has no reason to spin The disk still needs to be in the drive, even if you run it from a HD, so the xbox still has to recognise the game is there..... which it's not doing. smithyandco
Would be benificial if you could grab a HDD while your at it... Install all your favs except Halo 3 (Runs like crap on HDD)... Keep your new drive working longer as it's only got to slowly spin up then spin down to make sure you have the disc in... You could grab a pre-flashed drive and wack that in... ScORTED
the console still needs to read the disc to let you play the game so that wouldn't be a viable solution
