Hi All,

As many of you will have seen already i've already got one thread going showing all the work done to my/our Si 130 (Red 1), Well this is MY thread for the Cabriolet that i own.

We decided todo the other car first as this one needed alot more doing to it,

The Story:

I always wanted an escort cab, So about 2 weeks ago i went on auto trader n found one :) 1.6 Calypso for just shy of £800... Looked real good, so off i went n offered my Finesse + £500 for it, and to my supprise he took my arm off :\.

2 days later i go to collect the car and OH! I can hardly get it out the car park, The clutch is shot (Almost completely), Then on the way home the rear end was bouncing all over the shop & one of the tyres was bulged... it just wasn't nice, i got to the point of thinking oh crap what have i bought.

I Lived with it for another week whilst i waited for a cheque to clear in the bank then i went Crazy & spent about £1200 on brand new parts to get this thing going again :) Plus £400 for a 130 Spec Cabby Si as a donor car...

Some pictures of the project build...

When i bought it

The donor Car

First things first... Need some wheels... To my Joy the 130 had a mint set of GTI 15's on... Cost me a new tyre so they went on the Cabby Right away...

http://www.fordfenatic.com/red2/new%20wheels.jpg

Then i ordered a set of RS2000 MK6 Alloys from JDMotorsport :) Just waiting for them to arrive, then the GTI's will be winter-wheels lol

Yesterday i set about sorting the Rear Beam on my cab, So here are some pics :) Semi-Reconditioned 130/RS2000 Rear Beam (Still needs new disks etc but post is too slow for me! lol), We got the beam, new rear shocks, calipers on & blead the system :) So the rear is now back on the ground sitting LOTS nicer!

And just for HaHa's the car STILL had it's OEM Exhaust System...

http://www.fordfenatic.com/red2/old%20exhaust.jpg

Being a single peice system it had the origional Cat bolts on (VERY VERY hard to undo!) do i used a grinder, knocked the bolts out, then away i went, this exhaust (Single Peice) is well past it so i called up Fiesta Center and got myself a brand new Ashely Exhaust system sent Next Day Guaranteed :) so today il be fitting the new exhaust, then il be taking my old rear beam upto my lockup to slap on the donor car :) Need to be able to move it so that i can get the engine out.

Coming in the Next 14 Days:

- Engine Transplant to Cabby Si130 1.8 - Done!

- Full Ashley Exhaust System - Done

- Fitting of Rear Spats/Side Skirts

- Fitting of Rear RS Accessory Spoiler

- Fitting of 280mm RS2k Brakes w/ BEAR Drilled & Groved Disks Up front. - Done

- Fitting of RS2k Rear Disk Beam - Done

- Re-Painting RS2k Alloys & Fitting - Done 2 of Them!

- Fitting Heated Front Screen - Failed! (It Smashed when removing it from the donor car!)

- Repairing a small snag in the inside roof lining.

- Fitting Electric Rear Windows - Done

- Smoothing Cosworth lower Bib to Fogged front bumper :) - Getting There! (pg5+) :)

Stay tuned for Daily updates! Hopefully tonight il have some nice pics of the new Ashley System fitted up :)

very quick progress keep it coming :D

I do work, but only about an hour or so per day, I own a large company :) And yes... I do have pleanty of money to buy a fancy car but wheres the fun in driving a stock car ehh? I've just spent another few ££'s on her :) Absolutely cannot wait to get the engine in, Tommorow I'm going to strip the engine etc out of the donor car n get that sent off to the scrap man :) Then i'l be ready to strip the cab & fit the 130 Engine in there :)

Keep the comments coming :) It's inspiration to get it going...

BUT... i need some help...

What do you think to Cosworth Arches / Skirts? :) Found a good set and im considering it... Think about it combined with...

Cosworth Lower Bib smoothed to MK6 Fogged bumper, Cosworth Front & Rear Arches, Cosworth Side Skirts & then some form of a cosworth / mk6 rear bumper combination :)

Thanks guys... just thought id do a mini-update on todays progress... I whiped the front bumper off expecting lots of rust (All my old escorts were gone behind the bumpers) but alike under the car WOW! it's like new! shame the paintwork isn't as good :(

Here's a pic of the front end in peices with one of my new angeleyes fitted, Note the Huge overspray where some n00b has re-laquered the front end and not bothered masking/removing parts! What a pee take... Just ordered a brand new ally radiator, new slam panel & Rover 200 Oil Cooler (Looks like a mini intercooler, much nicer than the ford ones).

Im heading back out in a moment to get my Electric rear windows fitted (Thanks for sending those matt), once there in i will get the pics of the completed front end up.

If the rain also holds off il get the front RS2k Disk conversion fitted :) Ohh the dedication ehh? :D Check ya later all!

Ohh and the "Bird" in the passenger seat is donna being her usual helpfull self as usual... i.e. whats this button do... HONK! awch! lol

Well last night i managed to get the angel eyes fitted properly, bumper back on then i stripped the interior out todo the rear electric windows, to my disgust Ford didn't leave the rear loom in non-electric window cars like they did with mondeos etc. so using a mk5 loom sent to me by matt i had to make my own, About 9pm last night i had 4 electric windows :D Rock on! lol

And today im going upto the lockup to get the engine & dashboard stripped out of the 130 then the scrap mans coming to take whats left of it away :)

Stay Tuned :)

Will get some up soon :) I'l take some when i get home later today.

I've now finished work for today (Early night ehh? lol)

Today we have...

- Quick Fitted rear beam to the Donor car & dropped it back on its wheels

- Removed the doors & all panels i may need in the future (When spraying the main project).

- Removed the gear stick & linkages

- Removed the exhaust & manifold

- Removed the radiator & front panel

- Built a frame & stripped all retaining parts on the engine so tommorow morning we will drop the mounts and lift the beast outta there strip the dashboard & interior loom out and get the car scrapped.

Then next week we will get the car into the garage and get the engine fitted :) (And quickly hopefully as my clutch is now almost completely dead :( hopefully it wont give up within the next 7 days).

Cant wait for the rest of my parts to arrive next week so i can get it finished :)
