SteveB
EDIS stands for Electronic DIStributor - the bit that drives the coil. Yours is internal to the ECU, so if you go down the Megasquirt route you'll need to get one and wire this in yourself. Going down the Megasquirt route is a good idea if you are going to do a lot of engine mods later on, but be warned that it isn't a 'just turn the key and drive away' solution. You are going to have to spend time tweaking all the settings just to get the engine started and running right. what about the plug and play options that are loaded with a base map? would they not be enough to get it started? Possibly - but I just wanted to point out that you just cannot stick it in and forget about it. Tuning a Megasquirt system takes time and knowledge. webbysdad
Just looking at this thread, my son is hoping to put a silver-top 2 litre in his Escort estate but it is an "X" reg finesse with the electronic instrument cluster.Does this mean it has EEC-V ecu? If so would the ecu from from a 2 litre Focus work or would a Mondeo one be better? Does anyone have any info about the feasibilty of this upgrade? webbysdad
Also, does anyone have any pinout for EEC-V ecu, particularly which pins are for which PATS functions, please?I have got main pinouts for both Escort EEC-V and Mondeo EEC-V but info just shows various pins as "PATS", no indicationas to what PATS functions. Cheers guys.
JC
have you got a copy of auto data? can get a screen shot of the pins if that helped?
webbysdad
No, not got access to Autodata. That might be very helpful, thanks. I got a look at an AA patrol info book but like I said, no specific info aboutPATS pinouts. Cheers.
Stu
You're highly unlikely to find out what PATS wire does what. Edited November 14, 2009 by Stu
SteveB
PATS has just 4 pins - power - ground - transmit - receive. I know the pinouts of most of the plugs. If you post a photo of the one you have I'll tell you which pin is which.
