eetaylog
sorry if this has been asked before but ive only just got an xbox (actually, got given it as it was broken with RROD, but i fixed it), but ive noticed that when i boot it up on my plasma TV, the picture quality is pretty poor. Bear in mind i dont have any instructions for the unit, just the xbox, power supply and AV cable. I know that the video output from xbox is capable of being high def (or at least upscaled?) as ive played on a mates setup with pretty much the same Tv, but i cant figure out how to do it. ?? PeeWee
Check the video setings in the settings page, you can choose up to 1080p in there if your tv will take it. Im prety sure your plasma will handle it nicely.

smithyandco
Composite/component cable at the very least is required for a decent picture. http://www.erenumerique.fr/images/jeux/20051116/Xbox_360_cable_avance.jpg Use the Red, Blue and Green (RGB) for picture, the red and white for sound... select HDTV on the switch on the 360 end of the cable and setup in the dashboard for 720p or 1080p Either that or a 360 VGA cable http://www.consolegames.ro/forum/attachments/f41-console/37358d1256032006-vand-xbox-360-vga-cable-original-microsoft-xbox_360_vga_cable.jpg and connect that to the monitor input on the plasma and the red and white for audio again. (VGA is capable of a decent looking 720p or 1080p signal, some would argue it's better than RGB... personally its the same sh1t) If it's a HDMI model... HDMI all the way! The picture is much, much better and colours are immensely better via HDMI than RGB or VGA! Edited May 13, 2010 by smithyandco

First cable is what im using, using the HDMI cable gave no better results I found except sound doesnt travel with a normal hdmi cable you need a splitter type one. eetaylog
ok, i bought a VGA cable in the end so that i have the option of playing on a monitor as well as my tv. There is a switch near the xbox AV connector end, can anyone tell me what it does? Im hoping its not some kind of SD <-> HD switch as its pretty loose http://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/24444.jpg
