wwwd
Every PS3 owner in the world, mate. It's been offline since last Thursday http://edition.cnn.com/2011/TECH/gaming.ga...hack/index.htmlI know, but I thought it was only today they admitted they've f*cked up big time and given out everyone's personal information, like names, addresses, usernames, passwords, and maybe even credit card details. This is all over the news, whats actually going on?Pretty much what I said above. People have already started to sue Sony.

wwwd
Silly question, if I was a victim of identity fraud and someone racked up a sh*t load on credit cards, etc. would I be liable? And does this mean technically, someone could wipe out my current bank accounts? Also, as this story is current affairs rather than PlayStation specific (in terms of the consoles technical capabilities) then I'm not sure why this topic has been moved. smithyandco
Makes me glad that my PS3 is still sat out of the way unused as it had the infamous YLOD. (reminds me... need to fix it some day) Plus the fact it's not been online... ever. Xbox still going strong with details not hacked.... http://i277.photobucket.com/albums/kk76/Packman_014/emo/whistle.gif

Craig855S
Silly question, if I was a victim of identity fraud and someone racked up a sh*t load on credit cards, etc. would I be liable? I would sincerely hope not, I was defrauded a few years ago and Abbey phoned me and told me before i'd even noticed, they refunded me the money straight away and started a criminal investigation..but i dont know whether the guy/girl was caught though....on the other hand, these days everyone is trying to sell you insurance for having your card defrauded, so maybe debit cards are no longer protected by your bank free of charge And does this mean technically, someone could wipe out my current bank accounts? Yes, they have access to any card whose details you have put on your PS3 to buy things from the PSstore, such as COD map packs etc..If the card you put on PSN has expired since then, then that account is safe Also, as this story is current affairs rather than PlayStation specific (in terms of the consoles technical capabilities) then I'm not sure why this topic has been moved. My visa debit card details that run my main current account are on PSN from when i bought the black ops map pack, that card is still valid so in theory it could be used fraudulently... However, i think these geeks that have hacked PSN have done it just to prove they can, and to get up sonys nose...not to defraud millions of people of their money...After all, its easier to hide a virtual attack on a network, than it is to hide a monetary transaction (if the hackers transfer all my money into their account, the police will find them, if they enter my card details into a mail order website, then their address will be held with the seller, and the police will get them...etc etc. Not to mention Santanders password protection that pops up when you enter the card details into online mail order websites
PeeWee
Also, as this story is current affairs rather than PlayStation specific (in terms of the consoles technical capabilities) then I'm not sure why this topic has been moved. Erm!Your title "Sony Playstation Network" and the fact the story IS Playstation specific seems to show otherwise?Unless you wish to enlighten us what else this topic refers too?Otherwise it does seem quite specific towards the Sony Playstation which we do indeed have a specific forum for. I dont seem to be affected on my XBOX or my Wii so doesnt really affect me or others with those consoles. Edited April 28, 2011 by PeeWee
Craig855S
You may want to move the topic from the MMB entitled "youtube" to the video section then Peewee...... Back on topic And "The strangest thing happened to me last night, I stil cant quite get my head around it." topic to the jokers section... if your gonna be like that
PeeWee
You may want to move the topic from the MMB entitled "youtube" to the video section then Peewee...... Back on topic And "The strangest thing happened to me last night, I stil cant quite get my head around it." topic to the jokers section... if your gonna be like that Even stranger is the fact you have lost the report button function (the correct method for raising such awareness to staff that don't always have eyes everywhere or notice everything). Then there is this:1. When moderators carry out an action it's done for a reason, it isn't a easy job, so please don't make it worse by giving them a hard time, if you dont agree with something ask them via PM, don't get on about it and start shouting around. This:3. Please do not critisize mods. They do their jobs well, it is not upto users of the board to say when a topic should be moved. Breaking of this rule will result in warns, and bans. This:8.If theres something your not happy with , have a sugestion, or similar pm Sortedford, threads will often be ingored if the correct lines of Pm's is followed. "if your gonna be like that" Now back on topic and PM me if your not happy, no need to air your personal views on my actions in here.Thank you.
