lee grout
This has been rubbed of all stone chipped areas hence the patchiness! http://i743.photobucket.com/albums/xx80/the-jonsonator/Project%20Escort/car014.jpgCourtesy of TC-DNB. http://i743.photobucket.com/albums/xx80/the-jonsonator/Project%20Escort/Newcamra029.jpgNow you can see that the bumper curves in at the top and i need to widen said area to meet the arch. http://i743.photobucket.com/albums/xx80/the-jonsonator/Project%20Escort/car015.jpghttp://i743.photobucket.com/albums/xx80/the-jonsonator/Project%20Escort/car016.jpgI used the sides from my original bumper to build the raised area. I started with the whole side, then with lots of trial and error found the perfect size bit yo use was....well look at the pic. http://i743.photobucket.com/albums/xx80/the-jonsonator/Project%20Escort/kirstytrevcar010.jpghttp://i743.photobucket.com/albums/xx80/the-jonsonator/Project%20Escort/kirstytrevcar007.jpgClamped in place in order to line up corresctly with the arch. http://i743.photobucket.com/albums/xx80/the-jonsonator/Project%20Escort/car004-1.jpgMuch shaping to match the top with the arch, not just one big mash up of a rounded edge to make all the points meet. Nearsidehttp://i743.photobucket.com/albums/xx80/the-jonsonator/Project%20Escort/car010-1.jpg Offsidehttp://i743.photobucket.com/albums/xx80/the-jonsonator/Project%20Escort/car009-1.jpg The whole picturehttp://i743.photobucket.com/albums/xx80/the-jonsonator/Project%20Escort/car011-1.jpg Im very pleased with how it looks. Just in the garden now ready for a sunny (non windy) day so I can get out the compressor and prime her.Thoughts welcome. lee grout
Here is the battery cover I made.Started with a cardboard template which I then transfered to some perspex I had in the garage. Some primer, matt black and a neat trim around all edges to neaten up and I think it make sit look a lot tidier. http://i743.photobucket.com/albums/xx80/the-jonsonator/Project%20Escort/car003-1.jpghttp://i743.photobucket.com/albums/xx80/the-jonsonator/Project%20Escort/car013-1.jpghttp://i743.photobucket.com/albums/xx80/the-jonsonator/Project%20Escort/car014-1.jpghttp://i743.photobucket.com/albums/xx80/the-jonsonator/Project%20Escort/car013-1.jpg

Sort of minimal modding but makes a nice impact.
massivewangers
Fair play, some work going into that! Nice to see someone being creative. Hope you get it all done. Are you using a standard rear bumper too? What sort of skirts are you fitting?
lee grout
Yup, standard bumper with spats. Restoration pics of them to follow shortly. Only thing different to the bumper.......so far! is iv's filled the number plate light hole and smoothed over. Think im having the numberplate on the bumper (square one not rectangle in the centre). Was gonna use my aftermarket skirts originally but decided not too now. Gona get some cossie's on order, that way it will tie the arches in nicer and I think it will look better as a whole. lee grout
Well heres my rear bumper, A quick rub down and ready for paint. http://i743.photobucket.com/albums/xx80/the-jonsonator/Project%20Escort/car008.jpg Now look at this S$#T!!! Nothing is ever simple. Flaking paint = some D!ck who cant do a proper job. It had been sprayed over without any rubbing down whatsoever, its smooth as the day it left the factory. http://i743.photobucket.com/albums/xx80/the-jonsonator/Project%20Escort/car007.jpg And look at the state of these! One's got a zig-zag crack throughout the middle of it and the other has filler smothered all over! What I dont get is the fact that the one with all the filler......was never cracked or broken! http://i743.photobucket.com/albums/xx80/the-jonsonator/Project%20Escort/car011.jpghttp://i743.photobucket.com/albums/xx80/the-jonsonator/Project%20Escort/car012.jpg Drilled the ends of each crack to prevent from spreading.http://i743.photobucket.com/albums/xx80/the-jonsonator/Project%20Escort/car009.jpg Here we go, after a whole afternoon of messin about!http://i743.photobucket.com/albums/xx80/the-jonsonator/Project%20Escort/car013.jpg And now all primered and looking half respectable! http://i743.photobucket.com/albums/xx80/the-jonsonator/Project%20Escort/kirstytrevcar013.jpg Hopefully soon will be trial fitting the bumper to see if I need to pack out the sides to meet the arches or not.
