lee grout
Getting there, what colour will it be? Matt black. Ever since I saw tez's black project (RIP) I decided thats what I wanted. Was gonna be orange originally but I'm doin it myself and matt black is million times easier to do! Yeah its th easy option but think it'll look wicked. After I sprayed the engine bay that just confirmed that I wanted it that colour. As for ready for ford fair... I'd love to go (never been before) but not sure if it'll be ready to show for that. Can always use that date as a deadline to work to though. Even days when im not in the mood I'll have to pull my finger out and do something. Only trouble is, weekends seem so far apart and im slightly restricted by weather. Just have to make the most of the sun when its out ..... Goodtimes. escortmk5
Ok looks good tho, how did you fit the arch extension? The arch is bonded on using a silicone type glue in a tube ( use with a mastic gun). I'll get the name of it nxt time I'm down the garage! Tigerseal? I think its master-seal (I did look but I've forgotton already)! Here's some pics of the primed side.http://i743.photobucket.com/albums/xx80/the-jonsonator/Project%20Escort/car003-6.jpghttp://i743.photobucket.com/albums/xx80/the-jonsonator/Project%20Escort/car002-5.jpghttp://i743.photobucket.com/albums/xx80/the-jonsonator/Project%20Escort/car001-6.jpg Hope to get on it at the weekend pending the weather. Next on the agenda is....Prime outside's of driver side doors.Prime passenger front door and wing.Start blending in the rear arch on the passenger side. Fingers crossed I can crack on cos' I'm really in the mood for doing this at the mo, shame its only monday! P.S Ii did spin these pics on photobucket but its placed them sideways... you wana sell me those seats mate??

lee grout
After a crap day missng out on working on the car on sat I thought I best do some today. Here's drivers side, all primed up.http://i743.photobucket.com/albums/xx80/the-jonsonator/Project%20Escort/car001-7.jpghttp://i743.photobucket.com/albums/xx80/the-jonsonator/Project%20Escort/car002-6.jpg Worst part of the day, noticed oil was leaking from the cam cover at the back. Took the cover off to have a look and the gasket was a really crap fit. I assumed there was a kink which is why there was a gap for oil to come out! Tried setting the gaske tback into place on the cam cover, and every time I turned it over to put it on, the b*stard kept sagging between the gromit type things that the bolts go through. It didnt seem to sit right, like its too big, which is why when pushed down one side it pops up the other Gonna get a gasket ordered from ford tomorrow and hopefully its a better fit this this pile of poo off ebay. Any hints on getting the gasket to stay in place please let me know. Anyway that put me on a downer for the day, so now the one side is primed ive given up for now. If I can get the gasket on during the wee I'll be a happy boy again

lee grout
After saying matt black for a very long time Andybo said on your thread that some 2k paints dont need lacquer, I thought they did. I may choose a 2k colour so that I can forget about the lacquering and just machine polish it up. Trouble is I think of a colour then months down the line I change my mind. I guess I'll only really know when I'm close enough to have to think about it!

Youths of today Well i came up with the theory of a Yellow Cam Cover is fast, so i decided i'd Dyno test it and i did, it showed a 20BHP increase for Yellow (Racing) and a 3HP increase with Red (Road Fast). SLEEMAN
looks great mate, fantastic work! it just needs some 18's, but to be honest i think it needs better front and rear bumpers to set the rest of the kit off, say for example st24 rear bumper possibly an evotech or wrc or similar styled front end, morettes and job done. thats my personal opinion but i can't wait to see what the finished product will look like when fully painted!
