TC-DNB
Just a quick one really. I'm fine with bodywork and interior cleaning/detailing but i tried sorting my engine bay out at the weekend and im just not happy with the results. I used proper engine degreaser and wiped everything down but it still looks crap. I also tried polishing the metal parts and the wax just didnt take and buff off right. Any suggestions / advice on engine bay cleaning? Tommy
Andyb0127
I use an APC (all purpose cleaner) spray this over engine bay leave for ten minutes, use a brush on the worst areas, pressure/jet wash off, dry off then apply autoglym Plastic and rubber care, don't really have many shiney bits on mine as it's standard lol, try super resin polish on it mate that should work as it an all round polish. Ahmotorsport
I used the stuff in our cleaning tank to do mine, it's sort of a mixture of petrol/diesel/white spirit etc, worked a treat.
lee grout
What parts did you want to polish? Polish on a rag wont do it unless it was high polish to start with! You'll need to rub it up gradually using wet n dry, getting finer as you go then a final polish with a proper metal polish. http://i743.photobucket.com/albums/xx80/the-jonsonator/Project%20Escort/kirstytrevcar011.jpgAir intake pipe started with the texture of the inlet above.http://i743.photobucket.com/albums/xx80/the-jonsonator/Project%20Escort/kirstytrevcar065.jpgAll pitted areas now smooth'ish!http://i743.photobucket.com/albums/xx80/the-jonsonator/Project%20Escort/car019.jpgGradually gettting there. This stage was up to 220 wet n dry.http://i743.photobucket.com/albums/xx80/the-jonsonator/Project%20Escort/car020.jpgNow you can see the top and how polished it looks to the rest. Quite laborious but worth it Edited May 3, 2011 by lee grout
