Fitting remote locking to central locking

its pos locking paul and from memeory white/red and yellow/ black coming out of the box

pretty sure your wrong there fella, later fords (including mk5b-mk6 escorts) have negative pulse central locking systems.

most aftermarket CL setups and remote add-ons come set to Positive pulse as standard, which might be were youve made the mistake.

when fitting a aftermarket remote kit to a late Escorts OEM CL system the control module has to be put into its negative configuration.

theres also usually a set of jumper pins on the control module that can be swapped about to change it from positive-negative as required.

and Ive done it in god knows how many fords too, some to add a CL system and some to simply upgrade the existing to remote (infact every ford Ive owned barring the mexico that was already fitted out, ontop of that there's been a good handful of mates and family fords done).

I however dont "do it for a living" but I can say with certianty....... Ive always added aftermarket remote systems to existing OEM CL systems using Negative pulse setup and all have worked flawlessly, I include my current escort in that statement.

you can stamp your feet and claim "Im a pro" all you like, however it wont change the fact that thats how Ive done it shitloads of times and its worked everytime.

as I said in a previous post, the thicker wires are power and alarm/immobilizer wires.

by chance you may have wired into the alarm signal wires in such a way as to trigger the doors but generally I make a point of steering well clear of anything ford alarm related as there outright tempremental at the best of times.

the wiring colours I previously disclosed in the same post are the two lock/unlock signal wires that send the signal from the CL control module to the master solonoids in both the front drivers and passenger doors and has no direct effect on the modules operation itself and merely fools the OEM into beleiving the locks have been operated normally (this avoids absolutely any interference with the forementioned pain in the ring OEM alarm).

as Ive just said, when tapping these signal wires the setup was set to a negative signal everytime Ive done it.

What ford alarm I don't even get a flashing light on the dash as you should

oh there is one there trust me.

its just the only thing there good for alerting you about is the fact that youve locked your car with one door lock then opened it with another..... its literally the only time you'll ever hear it go off, its at that time you realise ford put a really annoying sounding siren behind a trim panel in the boot.

they only seem to work when they get confused

the whole thing is tied in with the immobilizer & Central locking system so you can imagine how much a pain in the rear it can become when something go's wrong with it or you interfere with them in some way they dont like.

sounds like you got lucky though so Id leave it be as youve got it for now, if something go's weird later with any of the three least you'll know where the problem likely is and can deal with it then.

Repeatedly press the bonnet pin fast and it make a noise :) lol

yes this puts it in form of test mode handy for checking all the switches

I didnt know about that pin when I bought my first mk5 yeeeeeeeears ago.

I set the crap alarm of dozens of times cos the pin clip was screwed and the whole thing would drop out its hole when you closed the bonnet then pop back up when you opened it again so you wouldnt know what was causing the feckin beep.

I must have drove it a couple of times in test mode cos I recall periodic honks coming through the back seats on one or two occassions, I turned the stereo up and pretended it wasnt doing it :pancake:
