is that a real iphone? looks out of proportion there :S

If my missus had paid out for one of those overprised sheep gadgets for me Id have knocked ten shades of shite out of her for being the same as the rest of the "look shiny shiny" mugs who buy em.

Must fight the pressure here to not get involved in an argument about the reasons why I bought mine! It's difficult.

Buy an iPhone, jailbreak it and you can make it as non-apple as you like.

Anyways, let's keep it car related. Happy to talk about my iPhone In PM if anyones up for it.

Im Sooooooo Glad to see my car go to a good home, so many people have said so many nice things about it and it has some touches that have never been done before. I'm glad to see you making your mark on her but as you say my blood sweat and tears have gone into that car and Id quite happily work on her again any day of the week! I'd love to see you keep her "non chavvy" keep the mods subtle and keep her looking as nice as she always has. She was a pleasure to own, a pleasure to drive and a pleasure to pass onto someone who im confident will feel the same =)

Would love to see her at some shows in her show condition and I look forward to following this post through & through!

I will miss her! Keep Her well Phil ;)

Looking tidy.

Re your install I was always told to run the power lead away from the rca as it can intefere with the sound quality if run side by side?

Maybe a loads of balls but maybe worth a thought?

RCA runs down the right of the car and the power and remote lead is down the left, yeh meet in the same place in the boot, well they did when I took the pic, in reality they don't touch.

You've mentioned 'chavvy' a few times now, do I look or sound like one, fk me I hope not. I actually have no interest in changing the look of the car at all, it's perfect, just repair and maintain so seriously dude don't worry. The sound system is in because i love music and want the best all round sound, I've removed the spare to save the weight hopefully makin me less chavvy because I'm actually thinking about performance and not looks or sound, plus I hate dance music.

Anyway, progress update:

Took the car to have the exhaust fitted today and asked my mate to look over the engine and general mechanics, found that the offside rear handbrake isn't working, poly belt is a little bit worn and the thermostat has definitely gone.

So today I had my mongoose exhaust fitted, idle control valve and trottle body cleaned as well as some repairs on the air temp sensor that wasn't attached at all.

I'm taking he car back to have the belt changed, thermostat fitted (could probably do that myself) and what ever is wrong with the handbreak sorted.

Pics of exhaust fitted will be here tomorrow!

Will keep you all updated.

  • 2 weeks later...

Update: So last week I drove the new car to Chichester to see a UNI mate and I must say it was a joy, I went to UNI in Southampton so i'd done that drive many times before but this time was more special. Not one issue with the car :) Lots of A roads and short sections of dual carriage way make good fun for quick escort.

Between then and my last post I had my Mongoose 3.5 fitted from my old escort which I love, nice gurgle and keeps part of the old car with me! The exhaust is no louder or quieter which was good because I searched google alot for Magnex vs Mongoose threads and everyone had a different opinion on this....im happy so nm.

Anyway, havent actually done much else because pay days at the end of the month and purchases and further work will need to wait, I did however today clean and wax the car, first time ive ever waxed a car so go easy. Here are some new pictures, I didnt include many pictures of the actual car before so here we go.

Exhaust was mounted using custom fabrication in the end, the Mongoose exhuasts are a terrible fit unless you have them custom fitted, as in having arms welded in rather than stretching the bushes into all sorts of angles. Its all in up and tight, no clearance issues.

So when i get paid I have my list:

Desperately need a new boot, this one is rusted bad, I only though it was two patches but below the spolier where water has gathered its in v bad shape, think ive given up trying to find a blue one and just get any old one thats mint repainted.

Need to fix handbrake, only locks on one side at the moment.

New poly belt as its wearing slightly.

Thermostat is f00ked as the car always runs cold which means slightly poorer economy as the ECU thinks the engine is cold all the time. Ill do a coolant wash out when I do this too.

Then finally I can think about painting calipers and rocker cover as well as cleaning the engine bay. Since installing the sound system the rattles of the car have made them selves known so Ill be going around finding them one by one and dealing with them also. Nasty one behind the rear number plate.

Thanks for looking, thoughts always welcome.

This update was always meant to be my boot lid repaired and my cosworth rims refurbed but unfortunately the gearbox has gone :(

So the wonderful Wayne has got one which I am having couriered all the way from up north to down south due to there being fk all parts down here! Box plus shipping plus fitting is gonna set me back £270 in total so I've decided to get. New clutch fitted whilst it's all out which will push the bill up somewhere but you can't not put a new clutch in if your taking it out!

So boot lid rust refurb and cosworth rims refurd will have to wait till end of September payday, she'll definitly be a much happier car then.

That is all :)

Gutted :censored: did you have any idea the box was on its way out when you bought it!? If not I bet your well pissed :vangry:

Yeh man, I knew it would need replacing, thought it would last the month until pay day but I've been driving loads to work so it's just gone quicker.

I ain't pissed at all, if I added on the price it's costing me to replace the gearbox to the selling price, it still would have been a bargain motor.

Just means I gotto delay some stuff till September pay day.

What you think of the above pics?
