A top tip when using any machine polisher is to not let the head get dry as it will burn your paint and leave deep buffing marks. Keep plenty of water at hand and use a good polish like G3 as quoted by Van. When you see/feel the head getting dry as your using it just splash water on the car and head if required and carry on.

I'm not sure something this size and quality is what you want to be using with G3 unless you've very experienced.

my mum and dad got it for me for my bday and just wanted to know more about it so i can use it stu

Yeah I know. I don't want to sound like an arsehole or poo-poo your gift but it's, let's say, a very very entry level polisher and something you need to be careful of with anything too abrasive (like G3!). Maybe it'd be good for buffing off afterwards rather than application of any cutting compound?
