It was looking very clean and tidy at ford fair, and nice to meet you mate :thumb:

I see now why the panels were so clean and straight after all the attention!

Nice to meet you to jc really liked what you've done with yours its a bit of a sleeper imo, when it comes to upgrading my brakes i think i'll be copying your set up on the front.

cant beat a red gti :D :innocent: should've gone for mondy 16" version though imo it's what ford should have done from factory :)

Had 16" mondeo wheels on my previous gti and never seemed to handle right but you are right they do look better.

Looks nice :thumb:

How is the paint now?

Was thinking of having Guy to do my rear arch..

If you wait for my next update i'll explain how i felt and feel now about the paint and how pleased i was with the service i had off guy then you can make your own mind up.

i remember, but you had mondeo sized tyres on them :nutter:

LOL wish you had told me that then, someone was talking about 16" mondies at fordfair and mentioned if you use them you need to go down a profile size on the tyre was this the problem with my previous gti.

195 45 16 or 205 40 16 are the right tyres not the donut ones the mondys have as std :P

When i first saw the car after respray i was really disappointed i thought the finish was poor looked orange peely, at this point car wasn't built back up and i was loosing my patience with the body shop they told me they would need the car for 7-10 days they actually took 3 weeks. On the day i picked it up it did look a bit better with the bumpers on glass back in and badges fitted but i still wasn't convinced it was as good a finish as i was hoping for. The drive home through up a few problems wiring to lights not connected screws missing from door cards sunroof handle not fitted properly. At this point i want to stress that this wasn't a 3 grand show winning respray all in it cost me 900 so maybe i was expecting to much for my money. So in answer to Mikes question should he do your arch i dont know but i doubt i'll be using him again. People have said if i wasn't happy i should have gone back i did he agreed to do the bonnet again but couldn't give me a date when and i didn't fancy having the car off the road again. The following pics were taken about 2 weeks after i picked the car up and i'd valeted it.

I know you shouldn't have to pay thousands for a good job, what really pissed me off was his attitude if you paint cars for a living you know what a good job is from a bad one its something you cant cover up so surely you should be trying to turn out your best work every time, after all i would have thought if your in the bodywork trade you get a lot of work from recommendations so it would pay to do your best every time. Now i've had the car back a couple of months and given it a good few polishes in that time, i would say most of the people who have seen the car have been complimentary about it so maybe im just to much of a perfectionist, at the end of the day the car does look better than before the respray so im thankful of that. Done a couple of things in the last couple of months.

Fitted my white faced clock

Waited 6 months for these took 6mins to fit

Dont ignore the smallest things for a nice finishing touch

Some people are just like that, not fussed what it looks like. They spray it......job done! If I had done it I would either re do it or buff the life out of it to make it look half decent. I couldnt do summit half assed, not if your names on the work. Some people I just dont get.

Totally agree with you, what ever i do in life i always try and do it to the best of my ability i think some people put making money out of customers before the quality of work they turn out.
