Ahmotorsport
Could have been worse!
Stu
Ouch. Hopefully that means no bent valves though. Did you tighten the cam caps up in order when you assembled the engine?

Hopefully that means no bent valves though. Did you tighten the cam caps up in order when you assembled the engine?I don't know...wasn't sure there was an order...I just tightened them all down lightly until they were tight, then torqued up Photo evidence http://i985.photobucket.com/albums/ae339/boomshine57th/86A49DE2-2156-4D39-A799-6996BB7A0E2D-12900-0000029A23E2BABD.jpg

etrebus
wow i didn't see that comming .hopefully the cams stopped with the valve closed fingers crossed Edited March 25, 2013 by etrebus
Stu
I have a feeling that'll be unlikely as it had no compression on two cylinders.
Andy 3i
As stu said...no compression so I am expecting the worst really. The head is nearly off anyway because we were going to take it off and just found this once we took the caps off.

Andy 3i
It's just head bolts holding the head on anyway. We took the exhaust manifold off yesterday but put it back on...no biggy. I'll compression test it again tomorrow but I'm expecting nigh on sod all from 3&4. If its valves just whip it off and take it down the local machine shop or if I can be bothered, get the valve grinding tool out and sort it Edited March 25, 2013 by Andy 3i
Stu
Get the head properly inspected if there's any damage. Valve guides might be damaged.
Andy 3i
Is that a common thing on zetecs then? Yeah, if I whip it off and it looks remotely damaged I'll send it to the engine specialists and get them to sort it
Andy 3i
Compression test from this morning read 180,180,120,130. Not really conclusive and I'm not 100% happy that nothing is broken
Andy 3i
Took the head off and by some sort of miracle the valves haven't been touched!! I'll get it pressure tested and all back together tomorrow so it's just waiting on the cams .
Stu
How do you explain the cylinder leakage?
