My guess was that the cam was holding the valves open ever so slightly? I'm baffled because i was expecting everything to be mangled...

But isn't that second compression test with no cams fitted?

True, but I'm not 100% sure on the gauge. It's off ready to go to the engineers. I filled the inlet ports with wd and it has leaked a minimum amount...but leaking is leaking really. Hopefully it's just a valve or 2, but I'm prepared for 5

Might be worth them taking a bit off the face to bump the compression up a bit? Could probably get away with 1.5mm if it's not been skimmed before, as long as you're happy to run it on super unleaded!

I could do you a chip to suit..

You say it's leaked WD out, surely that means its buggered? Ive never had to deal with bent valves before but have tested heads for leakage in the past to see if a valvelapping is in order (which I went ahead and did anyway as it cant do any harm)

It leaked out of one valve...the head shop was more than happy with the valves...apparently one was bent - which was replaced and the others had crap stuck under them apparently ?(. Either way they were happy that they were all sealing :)
