Turner
I think the coolant temp sensor has failed on a KA.Does anyone know how to remove it? Is it threaded or does it pull out? Thanks

I'm not sure mate. After a 30 minute drive the overheat light comes on and the coolant is steaming.Local mechanic thinks it's the sensor component itself as the radiator fan is not kicking in and coolant is leaking from that area, probably due to a deteriorated rubber seal. Will have a go at replacing on the weekend if part arrives.Failing that will be seeking more advice.
Turner
Changed the temp sensor today and the radiator fan now works. Seems to have plugged the leak aswell.Replacement part was a cheap component and barely managed to squeeze onto the electrical connector. I think the coolant temp sensor has failed on a KA.Does anyone know how to remove it? Is it threaded or does it pull out? Thanks threaded. real easy to remove. should be.on the.right.of the engine if u look from the frontTurns out it's not threaded but is held in place by a spring clip and just pops out on the 1.3 duratec. The clip was a nightmare to get around the replacement. Had to shave some of the housing to get it seated properly. http://img832.imageshack.us/img832/4668/ka2z.jpghttp://img407.imageshack.us/img407/4972/ka3p.jpg

Thermostat or water pump now looking suspect! maybe plastic water pump impeller?, they fail all the time Yeah I have read about those failing. However, the overheat light now appears within 5-10 min of driving and the fan switches on immediately.Previously, the overheat light came on after 30 min or more and the fan did not work at all. I drove for a half hour yesterday and the car did not seem to be overheating despite the light being on.Top radiator hose warm/hot, bottom luke warm/barely noticeable.Radiators inside hot when set to full temp. Dodgy sensor/ air in system?
