Id be bloody terrified flying that monster, even now I get a sphincter twitch whenever I take up my own rc plane.....its the sudden realisation that once its up in the air anything that go's wrong means your going home with a binbag of bits. that thing must cost 15k in total! It was supposed to be for those warm summer evenings, and now it's almost December! you'll have to chose your days properly carefully if your flying a glider, even my powered rc plane can take a kicking when the wind picks up above 5mph. I admit since buying my lad a Quad rotor AR drone Ive not even looked at my plane (not like flying it recently has been a option with the weather ), Im thoroughly addicted to it, for the money you pay its a impressive piece of kit and a absolute grin to zip about with, plus you can "first person" fly it through either of its 720p HD camera's streamed to a tablet or phone (something Id love to do with a rc plane) Edited November 19, 2013 by shawdreamer Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

shawdreamer Posted November 19, 2013 Share Posted November 19, 2013 the same as the one Im using now.... like I said, nothin that can be termed fancy or pro in any terms but its good for aerobatics and has a good balance to it without having to adjust the trim very much (thats aslong as you dont add any weight to it that it wasnt initially designed for like chunkier high capacity batteries ) just a bit touchy on landing if you come in on anything but still air (tailwind will see you nose down on wheel touch while headwind will stall you out almost everytime if your not careful) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

shawdreamer Posted November 19, 2013 Share Posted November 19, 2013 (edited) Looks pretty cool to be honest Is it expensive to get like a beginners one? cost me a 150 to get the bf109 when they first appeared on ebay but they go for as little as 60 odd now (in comparison my sons AR drone cost me near as dammit 3ton) if your a beginner its probably best to start with something a little less involved than a 4ch model though as co-ordinating your flight actions can get quickly over-whelming for a newcomer. a 3ch(thats "channel" btw) cub trainer is a good place to start and wont over tax a complete novice straight out the box. in basic terms a 3ch plane has 3 main control functions, rudder/yaw(left and right turning), elevator/pitch (up and down) and motor (forward speed/power) which means even flying for your first time can often be performed with ease. a 4ch plane however also has the added function of roll which when added into the mix can quickly disorientate a new flyer as in most maneuvers that involve rolling the plane some or even all the other controls are essentially inverted in operation which as you can guess can be pretty devastating if your not ready for it and the grounds coming up to meet your plane pretty fast all in all though its a cracking hobby to get into just for those rare clear days when youve got a whole local fields worth of air to zip about it Edited November 19, 2013 by shawdreamer Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I rarely push the plane past 200ft and usually contain my flying to low level accrobatics so I never even considered anything like air traffic (probably because the field I often use has 4 tall floodlight poles which would likely be a great deal more dangerous to air traffic than my small poly gnat ) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Ive always made a point of not flying when there's kids/animals or people in general about (even though the plane near always attracts their attention) as they bombard you with 1001 questions while your trying to concentrate on not wrapping your plane into the ground during a barrel roll or inverted turn or worse still they seem to think its a good idea to go dashing over to it after landing which is just never a good idea unless Ive pulled its kill switch and nothing can start up again accidently. good thing about these poly planes is though you could probably take a full speed head on hit from one and the worse outcome would be the plane disintegrating, even the props are so thin a twig can snap em. in comparison my lads Drone is probably far more dangerous while it doesnt have its indoor hull on as its high speed brushless motors coupled with its 4x CF props can be terrifying Edited November 19, 2013 by shawdreamer Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
