Jacking points/axle stand location

Currently wanting to repair a section of chassis rail on mk6 Escort.

 

And also the triangle type shaped area just in front of the rear beam mounting points, adjacent to the inner sill section.

 

I believe this triangle area is one of the recommended jacking point and is where I would normally support the Escort on axle stands.

 

So, any suggestions of a tried and tested area to support the car on stands, an area which is strong enough to take the load without bending the floor or compromising my safety?

 

I was thinking just in front of the triangle area on the edge of the inner sill, towards the front of car, inserting a small block of wood for the axle stands to sit on; but can this area take the load ?

I jacked the car up on the rear axle, get it up as far as you can.

 

Look under the car roughly in the middle of the car there is a flat part (it's the floor behind the front seats)

on both sides get a bit of floor board or scaffold board and but on top of axle stand.

 

Lower car on them slowly and remove jack.NOTE MAKE SURE THE FLOOR IS NOT ROTTEN!!!

 

IF YOU ARE WELDING THE DRIVERS SIDE you will have to drop tank and drop rear axle.

Bit of a pain mate.

Hey, thanks for suggestion, I'll take a look tomorrow.

Yeah a pain, reason I'm struggling.

 

At present, looking like rear beam can remain in situ but want stands in such a position so not to hinder fuel tank removal or beam removal, if necessary.

 

However, managed to position stands where I mentioned earlier, supported on short lenght of wood, to spread the load.

 

Although there's corrosion to the chassis rails, the floor, sills and elsewhere looks ok.

I put my axle stands under the sill's like where the standard jacks sits ( Anywhere along the lip ) I just got some small blocks of wood and cut a slot into it for the sill lip to sit in, then the block sits straight on top of the axle stand. It doesnt damage the lip, It can take the strain as thats where the original jack locates and you can put them as far forward as you need for maximum space. Mines sitting like this now, Ive dropped the tank and done a bit of maintenance. Just have to raise each side up a bit at a time as high as your jack/stands will allow you to go.

Yeah, I didn't want to risk damage to the lip of the sill.

 

Where I mention initially seems to be ok, currently on stands and wood blocks, located in between floor pan and inner sill, works a treat.
