dead locking

hi guys any way of fitting dead locking to a escort if it does not have dead locking but has cl thank you

Try turning key left then right.

 

If it has cl then it should have deadlocks

My GTI had it but not my Finesse doesn't still habe all the parts from the GTI but need to know what I need to swap over.  I bet it won't be something simple like swapping the controller module over.

Think the actual door lock motors are different plus the control module ... Maybe more..

iirc (its been a few years now)

 

the absolute only difference between a door with deadlocking and one without on a escort all boiled down the the actually latch mechanism, some had the deadlocking feature built in while others didnt.

 

again irrc the door lock barrels were the same, the link rods were all the same and the way the rods connected to the latch were the same.

 

as for changing wiring and control module? well afaik the deadlocking feature is purely a mechanical feature and all contained within the latch unit itself.

 

so in basic terms, aslong as youve got door latches you know came off a car with deadlocking you can swap your own current latches out for them a tada you have deadlocking (its really that simple and easy to do too)

thats brillient dummy questeon tho can u tell if a escort got dead locking but looking at the latches as want to go scrap yard and get the bits to convert thank you
