Laguna Splitter

theres more risk of cocking it up that way!

Have a look under your bumper first to see where to mount it, if its like mine you will have to make 3 brackets like spacers to screw into, measure the splitter and mark the middle, then get it central to the front bumper, use the ford logo as a guide as thats central ;) mount the middle of the splitter and work your way outwards, you will find as you get around the sides the splitter will be touching the tyres so give it a rough trim and carry on mounting it :) once all screwed up then thrim the excess off to the shape of the bumper ;)

Having recently found this site I saw a number of Escorts fitted with Laguna splitters, great I thought I will get one of those for my Escort 1.6 1998, however after checking my bumper (non fog light) I found that other than the sides and just around the corner towards the front there is nothing to attach to!! Having scan through the posts "laguna" in cosmetics I found a car (see above)that has exactly the same bumper as mine. Reading the post it says "if its like mine you will have to make 3 brackets like spacers to screw into" can you give me more details. I must really dim but I cannot see how to do it!

Thank you for your polite and sarcastic responses to my post, however they have not answered my query.

I will point out that the bumper fitted on my Escort is the same as in the photo in the original post – a bumper with no fog lights or blank holes to situate fog lights that has a COMPLETELY different underside to that of a bumper with fog lights. There is NO CHANCE of following the bumper line as explained in my original post.

Maybe someone who has fitted / knows what they are talking about will be able to resolve my query.

have you bought the splitter yet? if not, then wait till you buy one so that you can see how its attached..otherwise, if u do have one, take the front bumper off, flip it upside down, put the splitter on top of it (upside down aswell) then where there is a indent of bumper (like a tab) sticking out round it, just screw it on there, using some self tappers, it should fit into the recess which is small but on that bumper as atm i have the same one..alternatively look here: Click Me not the same splitter, but pretty close and more importantly, tells u how to do it, hope this helps :thumb:

Yes I have the splitter, just followed your instructions & those of the link and that is not going to work as there is nothing to screw onto as previously mentioned. Thanks for you reply though.

i think he's trying to say the bumper doesnt actually curve under on itself like the fogged one,so there is nothing to tap up into.

Bracket wise just get some L brackets from B&Q and fibreglass them to the bumper then screw the splitter to the bottom part of the bracket.

or better still get a fogged bumper, improved looks and u get foglights, all for 20 quid

L brackets from B&Q and fibreglass. That's the way to do it!! :nutter:

Well that's a matter of personal taste!!

Anyway thank you very much for pointing out the way to do it, I could not see the wood for the trees!! Anyway when the weather finally warms up will get it fitted & post a photo of the completed job.

Thanks again
