2.0Si
Sorry if i touched a nerve with a few people, just lately i have been wearing a seatbelt. I suppose its one of those situations ' what if ' or ' if only ' you could wear it and it would save your life, or you couldnt wear it, crash and managed to get out without being strapped in or something. A bit like unprotected sex, you will either catch something or you won't
Danzetec
Just wear the seatbelt- I don't think it requires a detailed explaination as to why this would benifit you

PeeWee
I Always wear my seatbelt & passengers have a simple option , seatbelt or walk, I value mine & everyones safety when i drive, must agree with tom in the sense of people saying "its up to me if i dont wear it" as its not nice for someone scraping someones bits of the bonnet of a car whichever way you view it
davespages
Seat belts save lives period. Last sunday (9th) my red escort lost traction on a corner and brakes locked, Escort Nill, Mercedes Nill Escort is written off and my air bag never went off...My leg got injured, but nowt broken... I will also emphasize the importance of a strut brace in an accident, it really supported the sides of the car during the accident, without it, my fiancee and son could have been seriously hurt as the head on with a merc sent us spining into a wall Please, if you value your life, wear a f**king seat belt! foxdie
i think just about every member has come on here to tell me how dangerous me not wearing my seat belt is, but think nothing of going up town getting stoned, drunk and unconsious on various substances. Driving way beyond there ability and doing various other silly more dangerous things you take for granted that dont carry a fixed penalty. I'll let you all have your power trip for now, but think of this when you p!ssed out your face, staggering home down ally.... whats REALLY more dangerous? Guest gti.tom
Not wearing your seatbelt is more dangerous. If you'd like stastics I can supply. You'd be surprised how few people, stoned, pissed up, whatever, actually injure themselves anywhere near as severely as those who have car accidents when not wearing a seatbelt. To sum up, More people die every week from not wearing a seatbelt than from being drunk or stoned in public places, whatever they're doing. I dont see many power trips, just sensible people who care about their and others safety. I really struggle that a mature adult has a problem with any of this. Seatbelts save lives. Its fuking simple.
foxdie
yeah show me the statistics. cos your talking out your ass. My friend goes "up town" twice a week. In the last two years i have been called to hospital 4 times becuase he has been mugged, attacked and runover. He has had 2 broken jaws, fractured cheek bone, etc etc becuase he didn't want his mum to seem him like this. Now i've been driving 6 years this year. I've not had one accident, nor have i ever needed a seat belt as a passenger. and i was doing 40kmiles a year last year. Now tell me whos life style is more dangerous? mine becuase i dont wear a seat belt becuae i find them uncomfortable and restricting. Or his becuase he cant control his urge to drink and get assualted/runover? The problem is people are so narrow minded. Im willing the people that die from Drinking, smoking, xtrme sports etc. Out weighs the ratio of people dying from failure to wear a seatbelt 100000:1. Yet for some reason you think a seat belt is more important. I feel more unsafe being sober and walking through Harrow then i do not wearing a sealtbelt.
