DIDZ Posted November 16, 2006 Author Share Posted November 16, 2006 i used old gasket as did devboy... they were both in good nick but niether of us have had so much as the slightest leak!Yet as said previously wen he fitted a new 1 it pissed out oil for fun... lolshuved oldie back on and hey presto worked fine... wiered eh? DIDZ Posted November 16, 2006 Author Share Posted November 16, 2006 not sure m8, but if the old 1 looks to be fine then fit it and see if u get a leak.but wen u fit it be carefull not to nick the b*stard wen u tighten it up... do bolts in diagonal or opposites and just lightly then go back over and tighten up properly at end.If it looks worn then best just start wid new 1 tbo Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
majorj0nny Posted November 18, 2006 Share Posted November 18, 2006 also - clean the head surface up so the gaskets sitting on a nice clean smooth surface.... ive done my cover now and its not even got the slightest seep of oil. I used a bit of wet and dry sand paper to polish up the head edging where the old gasket had left a stuborn ridge of dirt.. same for the surface of the cover where the gasket goes - then I used the proper torque settings - supprisingly the cover does not need to be tightened really really tight - just 7Nm ..
