buying road tax without the V5c?

need to buy road tax for the gti however the logbook has not come through yet - i do however have the tear off slip from the v5c that the old owner would have sent off

got insurance certificate, MOT and the slip

can i still buy road tax at my postoffice? or do i have to wait?
Im leaving on a long vacation

need the reminder or the v5, not sure if that tear off slip will do, no idea on that though

edit, failing that, if u know the number at the top of the v5 u can order it online.

Yeah, do it online mate, saves you having to produce documents. As long as everything is legit, the government will have a copy of everything and let you do it online. 'tis all computertised now.

the new keeper supplement counts as a V5 for taxing purposes... its got the log book number on it
Likes: Cheap insurance, track weapons, sleepers, proper handling, proper food, computers and technology, engineering, running, ford RS models, contact sports, motorsports, track days, The Stig

Dislikes: Fuel prices, whingers, harsh suspension, yUUf culture, being sheep, hard parked/ over slammed cars, VW beetles, prius and other hybrids, diesel cars (tractors), horses on the road and pikeys in general

the only thing with doing it online is depend on what stage the log book is at in terms of processingthey may send the tax disc to the previous owner

Taxed mine with the green slip from the bottom no problem as long as you have the mot & insurance, thats how i did my new one, you have a good few months you can use use this, :thumb:
