Pays to shop around as prices will vary. Another way to keep the cost down would be to do the prep work yourself and supply the paint. If you want any advice if you decide to do it yourself just ask as im a sprayer/panel beater by trade. Shame your not near essex id of helped you prep it then painted it for you. But to give you an idea we've just resprayed a focus st170 in imperial blue, only minor dents the cost for that was £2700 but most of that price was labour time removing bumpers, trims, wing mirrors etc.
  4. British touring car driver frank wrathall, has just been sent to prison for 21 months. Due to careless driving and killing a cyclist whilst talking on his phone. http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/458649/Ja...e-on-his-mobile
  5. I had heard alot of it is now made in china, fortunatly I don't really buy much from them anymore. As I already have most of what I need. But hate to think how much its cost me over the years. I've recently had issues with mac-tools over a spraygun, which as soon as its put in a gunwash machine then taken out, pull.the trigger and it gets stuck open. Found out the reason is the brass collar behind it has a rubber o-ring on it. So every time thinners goes near it the o-ring swells up as its not chemical resistant. Mac-tools idea was to send me spare parts for it, meaning every time I use it strip it apart and renew it. Went on for about six months, eventually after kicking up a right fuss they finally refunded the money back. Bearing in mind i have four sata jets, three devilbiss, two iwatas, and nine of these have.ever had any issues. Alot of stuff is like it now, nothings made like it used be. Snap-on is over priced now for what it actually is. Your just paying for a name.

  7. Some great fabrication work there. Nice to see the car being saved instead of the easy route of scrapping it, reminds me of the days i worked for a bodyshop specializing in restorations. You never know what your going to find until you start taking it apart. So i can appreciate and understand how it can sometimes seem never ending just as you think you've done all the welding you find something esle, but for me it was always the end result of seeing it finished and back to its former glory, and in most cases looking better than the day it was made. If there wasn't people that were prepared to put this much effort, time, blood sweat and tears into bringing cars back to life, where would most if them be. I've got a x reg mk6 finesse which I've always said no matter what it takes i will make sure it never gets scrapped. Granted it easier for me as im in the body work trade. But someones got to keep these mk6 escorts on the road. Keep up the good work look forward to the end result.
  8. Paul walker of fast and furious has been killed in a car accident. http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-25173331 R.I.P Paul walker.
  9. I'm near Romford but the same as sleeman, don't have access to a spraybooth but it won't affect the quality of the paint work. Only thing with cuirass blue it can be a pain to match as most paint schemes run alot of variants for colour which can make it akward to match as there low down the shade/match needs to be spot on. So who ever did it would need to see the car aswell to check which is the best colour/variant for your car.
  10. Mines a finesse also, mine does not have a sunroof, but boot release,a/c so pretty much the same as other finesses. Only thing that mine has is the halewood badges not that means much. it seems to vary from model to model what they have. yours looks good tho. This is a pic of mine, no real modifictions just added bumper spats, and side skirts. http://i760.photobucket.com/albums/xx242/Andyb0127/temporary-7.jpg
  11. Christ I only saw five when I looked, i wasnt seeing things then. Yeah they definatly looked like some dodgy sh!t.
  12. Its the same with some of the other forums im on, they have gone quiet and seem to have less topics and posts. I still look on here but never really sign in that much anymore. Even tho I still have my mk6 i would never would consider selling/scrapping it, and would do what ever it takes to keep it on the road. Granted its probably easier for me as im work in a bodyshop. Granted it will never have the heritage of mk1 or mk2 escort, but way I see it is its one of the last escorts to be made and is worth looking after. As for the club perhaps it may be better to cater for mk1 to mk6 escorts as already said, as im looking for a mk2 escort to restore, so would be happy to post pics of the restoration on here through the stages.
