  1. I know this is an old post but did you ever sell the door cards in the end?
  2. best person to ask is Jamie Akbari on the facebook Escort mk5 and 6 page...he has everything and knows loooooooooooooads on escorts (Y)
  3. It can be done as somebody here has done it but to be honest it won't make much difference on the old endura diesel lump. Better of converting to a decent zetec motor. Anything will fit with enough effort though.
  4. I've still got mine if that's any help:) Hopefully off to be painted next year and on the road
  5. Direct swap. Unbolt old hub with drum...fit on disc assemblies and use iirc puma or fiesta front hides and the focus handbrake cables.
  6. That's when you use the focus rear disc setup is what my comment above is referencing
  7. This is taken from the 'How-To' section of the forums 1.6/1.8 zetec - 2.0 zetec One of the most popular swaps due to how easy it is and it gives you the power you would've expected the GTi's to have had [136ps]. Although I did my 1st 2l conversion without any prior experience in stripping engines, I wouldnt advise it to anyone who isn't completely confident with what they're doing. I personally had the 'timing belt fear' but as long as everythings marked and instructions followed its relatively easy and very straight forward - albeit time consuming. Parts needed 2.0 zetec [silvertop] engine - from mk1 mondeo. new cam belt kit (optional[advised]) escort water pump - either from an old 1.6/1.8 engine, or a new one [advised] escort oil pump (optional[advised]) - you can use the mondeo one along with a smaller oil filter but you may have clearance issues due to the angle the mondeo pump comes out at. [new one advised] escort/fiesta zetec sump and oil pick up. escort/fiesta zetec manifolds. 2l pre pats ECU (early mk1 mondeo). escort/fiesta zetec flywheel and crank sensor. Other info You may as well use new bits while you have everything off. You can keep your own gearbox and pretty much everything else from your existing setup inc radiator, pipework and loom (although the ECU wires need a little modifying, theres a how to guide in the forum) Price You can get a 2l engine for around the same price as a 1.8 (£150), after this its pretty much up to yourself how much it costs. i always use parts from the local motor factors rather than ford parts and i very rarely have problems. All in, including all the parts ive listed above as [advised], expect this conversion to cost circa £350 if you do it all yourself and buy motor factors parts.
  8. iirc the diesels have a mtx 75 gearbox in them. Flywheel should also be solid and not a dual mass so should just need a clutch kit turbo diesel bits should fit though

  10. Evening. Can't believe its been nearly a year since i last played with my escort...work commitment and ill health does that. Still have the old girl and found her a nice dry home to sit in. Acquired my self a genuine cosworth bootlid and spoilers yesterday and also thought if i'm trying to make it a mk5 why not get some doors. So i now have two of those as well from a 5b. Hopefully i can make a start on some bodywork and sort the electrics which seem to have stopped working for some reason but thats a minor thing in the scheme of things. new bootlid fitted http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x448/the_big_man1/WP_20150706_001.jpg http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x448/the_big_man1/WP_20150706_003.jpg http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x448/the_big_man1/WP_20150706_002.jpg I do want to loose the pins as think they look a bit tacky
  11. Hi mate. Are the front wings full wings or the blend in ones?
  12. Most older fords run the wasted spark system so you can mix them up a bit and they will still run Prob got a bad coil pack me reckons
  13. There is on eBay at the moment a mk1 focus RS engine which is a standard 2.0 turbo duratec (still a blacktop zetec). All it would need to fit in the hole is a engine mount fabricated for the back and the correct flywheel box combo and standalone ecu Instant safe 220 bhp
  14. Had some fun with the car today. Managed to get my new wheels spacers on with longer studs and finally sorted the engine support bar so the engine doesn't try escaping any more. Erm....centre console is now fitted after tinkering with the handbrake lever position and making new holes for it as the mk5 is different :/ Only other thing is trying to sort the rear quarter extensions and waiting on new rear spoilers to turn up. Won't be long before I hand this headache of a car over to a bodyshop!! Pics as always http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x448/the_big_man1/cosworth/297EC989-CB88-4EC1-88B6-EDB3DE7562FF.jpg http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x448/the_big_man1/cosworth/7500532B-3EF5-4156-89B3-8EAC68ECB20C.jpg http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x448/the_big_man1/cosworth/B6649052-C352-481D-B6F8-C48F10B7BA4F.jpg http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x448/the_big_man1/cosworth/140702EA-88B2-4C78-9C85-63AE2F3A6BAA.jpg http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x448/the_big_man1/cosworth/4F409866-A8D2-4F05-91B9-866CDB3F128C.jpg http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x448/the_big_man1/cosworth/76252044-E285-42F4-9B73-2B67CC577009.jpg http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x448/the_big_man1/cosworth/D3867AD1-2AA2-4798-AAB6-4A492FE38AAD.jpg http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x448/the_big_man1/cosworth/541B3F96-3474-41C4-808A-E5A008A727AC.jpg http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x448/the_big_man1/cosworth/3BE0F692-DF1B-40F3-9154-4C0FB868D86C.jpg
