  1. No, this issue only started a few days ago, the maf sensor had been on for a couple of month, i think my only other option is an auto electrician but be-grudge £40 an hour just to tell me theres a issue in the wiring then extra to rectify it.
  2. Hey sleeman, thanks for the reply, no i havent tried swapping the clocks as i simple dont have another digital one. But i was right in thinking the problems are related how i dont know? Haha but as soon as ive disconnected the maf sensor the rev metre is 100% normal & my glow plug relay then begins to fuction correctly cutting of the glow plugs after 9 seconds or so. Which leads me to beleive a bad wire some where but i dont know which they have in common? The maf sensor was brand new 2 months ago is thats worth mentioning. The car actually feels just as good with it disconnected why is it most modern car will run like crap with in not connected but nothing seems to affect these old diesels?
  3. Any one? Ive also noticed my glow plug relay clicks once when the ignition is on but no longer does the 2nd click ready to start up id estimate these 2 issues starting together or certainly with a day of one another maybe share the same earth or wire along the way? Any suggestions welcome im dont know where to start any more. http://s303.photobucket.com/user/allanmichealsmith/media/20150720_184543_zpsmvsjkjs8.mp4.html
  4. Can any one shine some light on this problem which started yesterday, As seen in the quick video when the ignition is switch on the needle rises before coming to a rest then on start up it jumps to 2.5k but engine does not rise. The car is driving normal as ever infact its just passed its mot on friday. The rattling noise in the video is coins in the ash tray. Any help apprecaite also maybe worth noting if i disconnect the maf sensors this no longer happens how ever i was told because doing this puts the car into limp mode? http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn129/allanmichealsmith/Mobile%20Uploads/2015%20album/th_20150718_165245_zpscfgymn03.jpg
  5. Besides the obvious one has a turbo haha joking aside , im sure the n/a only has 60 bhp the td has 75 bhp the tddi which comes with a intercooler has 90bhp
  6. Im confused whats the difference between the two? On the corners of the bumper - skirts - spoiler its stamped with rs
  7. It sure is Its typical before the mot it was up for sale with only 3 responses , I was even willing to put 12 months ticket on. But after jotting up the bills from my ownership its clearly worth more to me to now run it for the year , then what its worth to ebay users... although it hasnt left the garage since mot day haha
  8. Hey lee no im planning on buying some wheels just can't seem to any local, but as shes not getting used regular & has 4 new tyres im not rushing, ill just see what turns up.
  9. Maybe they are , or maybe they dont maintain them to a good standard? I rave more about the mpg if any thing , but untill I experience a problem with mine I will go as far as to say the reliability is like any other car thats not abused & is regularly serviced. The b5 - b5.5 is what I can only speak for how ever plenty on the passat site have nothing but trouble with the early b6 2006 - 2008 for many reasons but then theres those with the same model who have never had to put a spanner to the engine.
  10. Not alot to report lately as ive been away , tried a new product to me , poor boys black hole &; natty wax on the estate http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn129/allanmichealsmith/IMG_20140609_125005_zps6iisgwjr.jpg As for the cabby ive literally seen the car 7 times since buying it. So I have not had time to do the plans I wanted as mentioned in previous comments removing the sticker & finding some wheels of my choice, any how out her through the mot today She failed unfortunately buy nothing bad emissions were high , two front tyres had wear on the outer edge (from a previous vehicle) number plate incorrect gap , front wheel bearing , After a quick spin with forte treatment new tyres the emissions dropped with in normal limits. I already had spare plates in the boot only because the originals looked aged. I know scottybo wont like to see the horrendous stickers again haha but a couple of pictures before she went in http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn129/allanmichealsmith/IMG_20140609_123606_zpsadvhijzm.jpg http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn129/allanmichealsmith/IMG_20140609_124350_zpsjxfjmb8m.jpg my plans were to sell her on but after spending more on her getting her to a my standard its worth more to me then any one else plus all the ones on ebay dont sell much more then a few hundred.
  11. Maybe the previous owner just wanted to let all his mate know he had a fmic haha I didnt expect youd get much love here with your bora I personally hated them untill in 2009 I got a vw passat what a machine never had a problem with it and underneath - arches ect all look like the day it rolled out the factory if only could be said about escorts despite my much love for them still , I only need a van & ill have a full house haha. The thing I love about my passat is the mpg I have never experienced another car like it although the older afn engines are supposed to be un beatable for the mpg. Not to mention the power after remapping its literally the best of both worlds. Any way since being in the vag group I have learned to love the boras for me it was only the front end that let them down. Yours looks spot on I like what im seeing. Heres a few of mine http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn129/allanmichealsmith/390837E7-106B-477A-89EA-6DE359922A39-8971-0000087D0013FB5F_zpsd2b42e32.jpg http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn129/allanmichealsmith/B377C034-D953-49BD-A89F-37EBB5886500-8971-0000087CEBE10444_zps3298358b.jpg http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn129/allanmichealsmith/27EB8DD7-D17B-4157-B2C2-52415A1BD139-8971-0000087CCF87D49D_zps8f42171d.jpg http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn129/allanmichealsmith/61577D57-DF2B-4A09-87CE-B8CC1B490294-8971-0000087CA31313B1_zpseb4b27fa.jpg http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn129/allanmichealsmith/A582BE21-8EEF-4FBF-AD78-8DEF1FEEDC06-1849-00000214FA3A4F75_zps5ae7bfb0.jpg
  12. as above what year did they start using zetec engines in the escort? i always thought it was in the mk5's with the efi but i have a guy adamant it was mk4's but i assumed they were cvh engines but im no expert hence posting it here where you guys really know there stuff
  13. check all the vacuum pipes , could also be the idle control valve which is common , you will find these helpful the sensors you mentioned are fan switch & temp sensor hope this helps you out
  14. so does every one agree the gti box i bought will fit with no issues? because i have a few mechanics that have there doubts as do i but i guess theres only one way to find out.
  15. hi the cabby is a 96 im not sure what manifold is on but here is a picture of the engine http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn129/allanmichealsmith/Mobile%20Uploads/20140303_170431_zpsxyzv2sen.jpg i was thinking could it be a cross over period so is it possible it could have mk5 bits on? a closer look from when i 1st got it http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn129/allanmichealsmith/Mobile%20Uploads/SC20140427-191140_zpswmwoaoti.png
