  1. The main problem here is that most newcomers could never really break the main crowd. This was a pretty tight community imo, and when the popular members of the forum started to leave, there just weren't enough quality posts from people who cared. Shame, this was good community for a long time. I recognise a few names in this thread - hope you guys are well!
  2. The Wolf of Wall Street Excellent. A really interesting, sometimes 'animated' story of the Wall Street / stock broker career of Jordan Belfort. Leonardo DiCaprio is excellent in the lead role, and there are great performances from everyone else. I am really fascinated by these types of biographical films, so I was really excited for it. The film is 3 hours long, but it NEVER dragged.. no scene ever felt like it had gone on for too long. Belfort is, in all sense of the word, an absolute vulture who would take the steam off your p*ss. The themes, whether its greed, obsession, power, whatever, all make for a very entertaining film. 9.5 / 10 It's been a great start to the year for films! I'm really looking forward to "Out of the Furnace", "Her", and "Inside Llewyn Davis"
  3. 12 Years A Slave Every now and then, a great film pops up that just isn't for everyone. 12 Years A Slave is not going to be everyone's cup of tea. It is not typical "entertainment". It is a harrowing representation of a true story, and actual real life events. If you're a regular movie goer and are a fan of history, I would check this out. I knew it would be a difficult watch, but I was surprised how emotionally invested I was in this. Solomon, the lead character, and 'well off' family man is kidnapped and sold into slavery. The story is a pretty heartbreaking account of what he went through. There is violence, beatings, whippings, and rape. It is not whipping for whippings sake, but the level of violence is uncomfortable, despite that being a driver for the story. One particular scene is so bad that people around me were crying. In terms of storytelling and emotional investment, its one of the best movie experiences I've had. Michael Fassbender's character is an absolute monster, and he is right to be in consideration for sporting role awards. 10/10
  4. Gonna check out Escape as soon as I can American Hustle 9/10 I went into the film blind, having only seen the trailer (which gives NOTHING away). I loved the story, and the performances from everyone were excellent. This film will be mentioned when it comes to award time, so definitely check it out The Secret Life of Walter Mitty 9/10 Went in with low expectations, and only really watched it because my mate fancied it last minute. One of the best "feel good" films I've seen in a very long time. Great soundtrack, and excellent cinematography - it's really nicely shot. The ending, while not massively unpredictable, left me with a smile on my face. Elements of adventure, romance, comedy, I think there is something for everyone.
  5. I think you should be the one to start it - I have a couple to add. 2014 looks good for films! Meanwhile, the last film I saw in 2013 was Anchorman 2. It was by far the worst movie experience of the year. I had low expectations, but the with exception of the dinner scene when Ron visits his girlfriends family, the film was just awful.
  6. Good luck, mate! As Facebook has reminded me already, way too many miserable people are quick to downplay someone trying to make some changes and wipe their slate clean! I always start off the year with some goals in mind - doesn't hurt! Anyway, last year I wanted to travel more, get fitter, and buy a house - all done. This year I will be focussing more on my career, and keeping the momentum going with training, running, etc.
  7. I personally think £350 is too expensive for just a 32" screen in the current market.. unless you're someone in to TV's (this doesn't seem to be the case) then you can get way more for your money Argos have this 42" LG on offer at the moment, £329 http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/9158922.htm
  8. Official Paul Walker tribute from Universal. Assumed some of the F&F fans would want to see this
  9. A very tragic loss, I was such a big fan of his work. Never heard a bad story about him, and by all accounts, did a lot of 'under the radar' charity/humanitarian work. Sad loss
  10. People cannot tell the difference between the iPad mini v1 and the iPad 4 retina?! Having spent time with both, I'd argue the difference is pretty significant.. Anyway, no complaints with my Retina (large). I originally picked up a Nexus 7 (which, again, had a better resolution / HD capability than the ipad mini). I used mine primarily for travel/HD movie content, but upgraded to the ipad4/Retina because I prefer Apple products. Unless you absolutely must pick up an Apple (which some people prefer, like me) I'd take a look at the Nexus before you do anything else..
  11. Bloody hell, lads. How quickly are you firing through razors that you're having to resort to anything but a regular modern shave? I shave my head daily, and my face twice a week.. I get a fair bit of mileage out of my Wilkinson Hydro 3 blades, and they're around a fiver for a pack of 4 replacement blades.

    ebay

Sounds like the seller has marked the item as requiring "immediate payment", which is what I do. It stops someone from putting it in their basket (essentially taking it off the shelf) but then waiting days to pay. Best bet is to wait for the seller to respond.
  13. I have to agree with you there! I was disappointed with Tokyo drift Hmm, surprising.. What other films have you seen him in? I watched "42" (the Jackie Robinson story) recently, and he was a great casting.. Plus, isn't he the son of an army/navy guy in Tokyo Drift? this will probably lead into him being good with guns or combat, or something. I dunno.. In any event, it will be pretty cool to see F&F7 pretty much kick off from where Tokyo Drift ended (with the Vin Diesel cameo). Kurt Russell and Tony Jaa (Ong Bak) have also been cast
  14. OMG! The news I've been waiting for - Lucas Black returns!! plus sequel updates Amazing news for the fans!
  15. Man of Steel One of the most enjoyable films I've seen in years. The story is excellent (as far as superhero movies go), but the special effects and fight scenes steal the show. I know some of you loving nothing more than downloading a camcorder version, but do yourself a favour and check this one out at the cinema
