question my son would like an answer to and that is would the mk5/6 escort be classed as old school fords now most are nearing 20 years old or is it just for 70s and 80s fords thanks

thanks again for your help will give all your advice a try as and when i can tie the car down for more than 5 mins he is always out driving it as a young driver he totally loves driving it he sold a renault clio so he could buy this escort and its hard trying to get it to stay parked for a short while the only time its still is late at night when light and time is against you so nothing can get done lol

lol the alarm on mine must be out of sync then because when i unlock the boot on my ghia and open tailgate my alarm starts screaming but we will give your suggestion a try on his with the window down etc but i think we are defo looking at an aftermarket alarm for it will update sometime later thanks for advice again one and all

thanks demented i had a quick look last night and there is no bonnet switch but i have got to check if there is a wiring loom for the switch the car has got central locking and i did an alarm test on it for him the same as on mine if mine is locked on central locking and i unlock boot with key and open it alarm goes off i did this on his and there was nothing and the car is fitted with the led under the clock but obviously dont light up anyway i think maybe removed or built without one or even ford forgot to put alarm in lol

thanks everyone i checked under the bonnet and there is not a switch on the slam panel mine is a 96 and has this switch but i did have an idea that all of them should have one im wondering now if the car has at some point had a problem with its alarm and been removed at some point i will have to have a check under the slam panel on his and see if the wiring is there for the switch i will also check in the rear quarter forthe horn thanks for all your help will let you know thanks as this is his very first ford and loves it hnow wants to join this club as i have done thanks again everyone

hi all a question for all you knowlegeable folk out there my son has just bought a 2000 my escort on a x plate my question is did ford alarm all models of the escort or just some as my sons dont seem to be equiped with one its got front fogs,air con etc but no signs of alarm ? any ideas folks thanks

hi all anyone in east yorkshire or very near to it got a mk6 escort they are scrapping that has got good looking alloys on that they dont want scrapping with the car something like gti or rs wheels with good tyres on was wondering if i could do a swap for the alloys that i have on my mk6 (hopefully pic is included)and decent wheel nuts if poss cant afford new alloys at the moment just want my mk6 to look a bit better on the road, mine are 15 inch with reasonable tyres on looking for 15/16 inch 17 inch at a push i know this is a lot to ask but would be very much appreciated thanks all cant seem to gat my car up on this but pic is on members cars last page if anyone interested in a deal thanks again

they didnt have as standard, but could be made to fit very very easily. i thought about doing this myself a little while back as i had spots on all my fiesta's thanks m8 will have to try and find some brackets from mk3 or 4 escort or fiesta xr2/i and give it a try

hi all can some one answer me a question, i would like to put a st of spot lights on the front of my escort (above the bumper) now when the mk6 was made did any of them come with upper spot lights as the xr3i and rs turbos did and if not would/could the spot light brackets be modified to fit the mk6 or if anybody has come up with any sort of mod to put upper spots on the mk6 thanks

hi all this is my first post can anyone give me some advice please i have a 97 1.8 i dohc ghia i have a rough idle on it on tick over it seems to purge with rev counter moving up and down a hundred or so revs at standstill and when i pull up at traffic lights etc it will rev at around 1500 rpm then drop down its revs to normal then start purging again its perfect under load runs sweet as a nut until i stop again only had the car a week the chap i bought it off said when he bought it it had a k&n filter on it and he replaced this with original air filter he also put in spark plugs but i dont think hes put right ones in or proberly not gapped them correctly hes put in 4 electrode post plugs in i dont even know if cams may have been put in (aftermarket ie high lift/fast road etc) as i heard that these can make tick over lumpy or could the problem be electrical i e sensors or ecu fault or just something else,any feedback would be grateful thanks
