  1. Great to see you are still as passionate about your GTI as ever. At one point I thought you were going to give up.
  2. Hi - I've a full Mondeo brake kit for sale. All the correct hoses etc. I bought these for my GTI but was then offered an even better set of RS2000 f/brakes which I prefer as they don't need the hubs drilled out. I'm in St Albans and looking for £60 which is what I paid.
  3. Get another Escort Paddy.....this is EscortEvolution after all, not MondeoMundane There's a 1.6 Finesse with just 7,000 on the clock on eBay. Perhaps that will last a bit longer...if you can avoid fiddling with it.
  4. Have a silver '98 Escort SI estate as my 'daily' whilst I keep my precious GTI estate off the road ready for the big refurb. The difference a badge makes, I could have paid for the SI five times over compared to what I shelled out for the GTI. SI is nice enough as well with Zender skirts, Ghia interior, heat f/screen, GTI s/wheel etc. History, long MOT, new tyres, exhaust etc. - bargain.
  5. Thanks Bongo....but now realise that my estate has a different rear-end arrangement so guess those spaces won't fit
  6. Are the spacers the same as listed here for Puma, KA, Fiesta etc? http://www.pumaspeed.co.uk/product-Rear-Axle-Handling-Upgrade-10mm_231.jsp
  7. Either get another engine the same (easy), get a complete petrol engine car (Zetec 1. and swap EVERYTHING; fuel tank, wiring, ECU, etc. (medium) or get a black top 2.0 Zetec and all the bits needed to make it work in your Escort (hard). Maybe in Portugal you are not permitted to make such changes?
  8. Love it. Good to see a proper saloon model being saved. What's that behind it with the spots in the spolier?
  9. Brand new one, delivered, for £133 - any use? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141765799673?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  10. That's quite weird. Can't think I would ever be bothered to reshell an Escort estate - but that new shell would probably cost less than what I paid for the welding on mine. After siting around for 20 years I suspect it would need a lot of work still, plus converting to RHD. As a base for something different it would be cool. Perhaps splice it to the floor pan and running gear of an Audi TT Quattro. Roughly the same wheel base - or something similar HOT to create a super quick 'sleeper'.
  11. My 1st GTI estate owned new from 1998 to 2001 and my current ride, purchased in June 2014. Same house, same drive. http://www.verulam-angling.co.uk/temp/GTi%20covered%20in%20snow.jpg http://www.verulam-angling.co.uk/temp/Escort%20GTI%20-%202014.jpg
  12. Thanks, Understand now. Is that n easy swap?
