  1. Been a while since I looked in too. It is sad to see how it's slowly dying but, as Stu suggests, it's the natural order of things as cars move out of everyday circulation. I had some great times on here, and a lot of support from the members during the most trying time in my life (almost ten years ago now!). My 'Scort's long gone, and I'm currently pootling around in a bog-standard Fiesta in a hat; or, more accurately, a "Fusion" - according to the badge on the back. I haven't entirely lost the modding bug; I still make little changes here and there! But I no longer want a car that stands out, and I have knee trouble going back to my karate days that makes a car where I don't have to crouch to get in through the door essential. To anyone still around - especially those who helped me keep it together back in the day - Thanks for all the memories (and, of course, thanks for all the fish!)
  2. I have, for sale, my 17 inch, Boos Line, 5-spoke alloy wheels. I'm looking for about £120 for them. Local collection only - Torquay area - although I might be prepared to travel up to 50 miles to meet you halfway. Otherwise you would have to arrange your own courier. They have a few scrapes and scuffs, but nothing too serious. All wheels will need new tyres. The fronts are on the limit, and the rears both have nails in them If you want to check tyre pirces, the front ones need to be 205/40 R17 (to clear the arches), and the rears use 205/45 R17. This is what they looked like when fitted to my Escort: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y29/cargy/R0012798a.jpg And this is what they look like off the car: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y29/cargy/Escort%20History/DSCF2916.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y29/cargy/Escort%20History/DSCF2917.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y29/cargy/Escort%20History/DSCF2918.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y29/cargy/Escort%20History/DSCF2918.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y29/cargy/Escort%20History/DSCF2920.jpg
  3. +++++++++ Car now sold +++++++++
  4. It's the end of an era for me, as I offer my much loved Escort for sale, here in Torquay. I'm offering it here first, as the car is known to the club, and I would like to give Evo members first shot. PLEASE NOTE THAT I AM NOT INTERESTED IN BREAKING THE VEHICLE http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y29/cargy/Escort%20End%20of%20the%20Line/DSCF2906.jpg I'm looking for OIRO £350, for which you will get the car, complete with all the various bits I have added over the years. It has MOT and Tax till the end of September, so it's currently road legal. Use it or strip it, it's up to you. The body is a bit tatty these days, but mechanically it's still sound. it has a recorded 81,000 miles, although the vehicle itself has done about 5,000miles more than this because I fitted a white dial dash with a lower mileage. The gearbox is about 4 years old, and the details of when it was changed can be found in my post history. I have all the MOTs from 2003 onwards, the original handbooks in their wallet, and the original service book which shows the servicing up until 30000 miles. I also have a large, disorganised, folder of receipts for work carried out on the vehicle whilst it has been in my ownership It comes with: 1. Non-OE, plastic, sideskirts with all jacking point covers. 2. ST24 style fibreglass rear bumper. The left hand bolt has parted from the bumper, and will need to be refixed, and the bumper has some slight cracking from idiots in supermarket car parks. 3. Rear spoiler with integral brake light, although this currently lets water into the boot. 4. Angel-eye headlights, and I will also include the original headlights. 5. Mazda-style rear light units, and I will also include a set of slightly damaged chrome-style aftermarket rear light units. 6. Chrome number plate surround 7. Set of generic spotlights in front intake. 8. Afterrmarket grille - currently painted blue, and fitted with a central "Escort" badge. 9. The car is fitted with a large bore exhaust - I THINK it was a Powerflow, stainless steel, but I can't recall for certain. 10. The suspension has been lowered, using a proper kit - 20mm if I recall correctly. 11. The door mirrors are manually adjusted sports mirrors. 12. The dashboard and gear lever surround has been painted a light metallic blue, with a slight overcoat of silver, and then clear lacquer. Not to everyone's taste, but certainly different! 13. The stereo surround has been painted in a similar manner, 14. The instrument cluster is a white dial type, and has been modified to be backlit by blue LEDs. 15. The factory-fitted tilt and slide sunroof has been converted to electric operation. 16. The courtesy light has been upgraded to the one with integral map-lights, and fitted with a courtesy light delay unit. 17. The steering stalks have been upgraded to the variable-delay intermittent type, and the correct relay fitted for this to function. 18. The original steering wheel has been replaced with a full leather one from the higher spec model. 19. A-pillar instrument pod, fitted with vacuum gauge and voltmeter. 20. Footwell lights, currently fitted with blue LED sidelight bulbs. 21. There is a custom made rear parcel shelf with some old-school Pioneer speakers, a small amp, and it also carries a large capacitor for use with a subwoofer (I may still have the subwoofer somewhere in my garage), and there is a fused, high current, wiring for this directly from the battery. Unfortunately I no longer have the original parcel shelf. 21. Chromed cam-cover with Escort Evolution sparkplug cover . 22. Silver E-Tech strut brace. 23. Stainless steel exhaust manifold heatshield. 24. Ram-Air filter and induction kit - although, to be fair, this is in need of a damn good cleaning! 25. Chrome strut top mounts and nut covers. 26. Chrome hydraulic bonnet lifters. 27. Chrome bonnet stay (although this is redundant because of the bonnet lifters!). 28. The front fog lights no longer work due to cracked lenses and water ingress, however the dashboard switch, wiring, and relay is fitted. 29. The necessary relays for the indicators to flash when locking/unlocking the car are fitted, and functioning. 30. The front door locks are fitted with Solex security lock barrels, with all keys. 31. The front discs are the grooved type. I have all the interior boot trim, but this is currently in my garage as it was getting damp due to water ingress into the boot. I can't think of anything else at the moment, so I'll leave you to look at the pictures, which can be viewed here: http://s2.photobucket.com/user/cargy/libra...166791953856903
  5. Yeah, sure do! I never intended to have it this long, but so long as she keeps going through the MOT with minimal work, I might as well keep her. Thats Citizen Cargy to you sunshine. Power to the People!... Oh, hang on, that was Citizen Smith
  6. Blimey! It's Krusty! How ya doing kiddo? Congrats on your forthcoming nuptials. Don't get on here much myself anymore, but I've still got my Escort. It's getting a bit tatty now, as I use it for a daily runner, but when you consider it cost me £1,750 and has cost very little to maintain(apart from having to replace the gearbox four years ago). Good to see so many old skool-ers still around, isn't it?
  7. Brilliant! Reminds me of my ex father-in-law when he was around that age. Eat your heart out Harry Brown!
  8. Still got mine. Paid a mere £1750 for it back in 2002 to replace a pile of shoite 306. I only meant to own it for a year or two, but it's done stirling service throughout that time, and I even had to live in it for about 3 months, off and on, in 2005! It's had its niggles like every car I've ever had. But the only major failure was the diff chucking its innards out through the gearbox casing nearly 3 years back. Up till last year it's sailed through every MOT with flying colours. Because of its age I predicted it would fail last year, and I wasn't disappointed: A couple of wishbones (3 if you count the one that failed through faulty manufacture)and the rear wheel bearings. 'Twas but a few days work with my trusty trolley jack and toolkit to get a ticket back on it within a few days. I doubt I'll be that jammy this year as I've hardly driven it - giving the tinworms a chance to get busy. And "get busy" they have judging by the inner sills. Whether I'll bother to sort it is debatable because... well, like I said... I hardly use it any more. I don't come on here that often now though, and I tend to lurk more than anything. TBH, barring the useful technical info and tips the site's built up over the years, there's not much Escort-related stuff on here anymore, and at my age I don't have much in common with most of the users any more. I say "most" cos there are still a few old-skool posters whom I respect and am interested in how they're getting along. And to those I say (in the immortal words of the young Mr Grace): Carry on, everybody, you've all done very well!
  9. Yeah, as it goes, I am. Shame you're a bit too far away to invite, but maybe next time.
  10. Totally agree, I'd rather see resources focussed on the most dangerous and blatantly unlawful drivers, rather than Joe Bloggs going marginally above an arbitrary limit. Totally agree. The current cameras have a fail rate that is wilfully concealed for purely political reasons. As far as the law is concerned, these devices are considered infallible. In reality they fall far short of that as any half-competent physicist or enginner will tell you. Meanwhile the policies used in the prosecution of those who dare to challenge them has plunged ever-lower, while the law has been slowly skewed to deter (and even prohibit) the innocent from obtaining a fair trial.
  11. I quit using patches AND the chewing gum. The patches give you a background nicotine intake, while hitting the gum when you get a craving takes care of it. Oh, and the best incentive: I'm saving £50 a week that used to just get turned into dirty stinking ash.
  12. I know this is really obvious, but don't forget to SORN it if you're keeping it off-road. The DVLA's really hot on it at the moment, and I know a few mates who've acquired hefty fines for vehicles that weren't even capable of running, simply because they forgot to renew the SORN.
  13. It appears to be genuine Clicky Although it IS Sky News, so double-checking is in order!
