  1. Im not a major fan of TF&F , its ok but way over the top, the fact the cars all seem to have 20 gears makes me laugh..seems like none of the drivers can cruise in 5th/6th on a motorway or use cruise control either-for some reason there always accelerating - decelerating - accel - decel wtf :s However, a good friend of mine has a role in TF&F 6 , shes a podium dancer and extra and been in london, somewhere secret near Westminster about 6~7 times now to film and she tells me there was millions of pounds worth of supercars there, inc a pagani zonda! (Dribble) so perhaps this film might be supercar orientated this time? be interested to see what the end result is if thats the case.
  2. Hi I have had my Mk6 (R reg)Amparo blue Gti for about 4 years now and for the 2nd year running it is about to fail its mot again on rusted chassis rails :/ For this reason i have decided to bite the bullet and buy a newer car as i really do need something thats a bit newer and more reliable. The escort is now being stored on my friends land whilst i decide what to do with it; I really don't know whether to fix the car and sell it or break it for parts? To repair for mot i will need to :- Plate and weld approx 3" x 3" of rear chassis rail, Replace the CAT as the one thats on there disintegrated, Replace one tyre (already have the tyre). To further make it presentable to sell it would need :- New tailgate due to large rusted area, New rear bumper as its cracked quite bad, Door strip on one side needs re-painting as the paint has flaked off. The only other visible issue with the car is that the rear arches have moderate rust on them. The interior is all half leather and in good condition, all white clocks, dash not bad neither. Engine runs good, occasional sticky ICV but it does not happen too often. Most of the rear chassis rails have been repaired (both sides) so they are unlikely to rot again for some years, the current issue is pretty much the only bit of chassis rail that we didn't replace! It has GTi wheels (15") in fair condition -all straight but some curbed slightly. tyres all legal. And a 3.5" cat back stainless exhaust (Magnex poss?) So.. Would would be the best thing to do? I can do any of the work myself as i know these cars inside out, owned 5 just never sold one! I know that a poor / moderate condition 3 door GTi will go for £600~£850 and i have about £200 worth of repairs on that list. What sort of money could i make from stripping it down ? Thanks for the help Ryan
  3. Oh! Haynes manual of course! Spent soo long playing about with jap cars that dont have haynes manuals that i totally forgot they existed! I think i might even have a manual in the loft somewhere..shall have a look! I guess theres nothing online for quick reference tho?
  4. Whos wayne mate? i assume he has one then? Bump btw!!
  5. Just wondering if there is a guide / 'how too' or even some informative pics that i could look at prior to starting the job, just so i have a head start with how to attack it!? Is it a straight forward job? or a PITA !? 1.8 1998 zetec from a GTi btw Thanks
  6. Don't suppose that Amparo blue gti front bumper could be for sale at all? ...and the back!! ? thanks
  7. Cool, nice one mate thanks. Pm them to me if its easier.
  8. Grr! lol.. any chance on postage? how much would you want for it?
  9. I have been driving about with a wrecked rear bumper and a black front bumper now for the past year! I would seriously like to tidy the car up by sorting this out. My priority is the front bumper as its black on an amparo body. This bumper is in good condition and will be up for sale/swap once i have an amparo one. I cannot justify spending £150~£250 to have a bodyshop spray the front and replace the rear as the whole car is probably only worth £300 at the moment! Does anyone have what i need? Many thanks Ryan
  10. Hi have you got a pic of the front bumper? im not too sure what you mean by the cracks? do you mean in the foam around the mounting studs? thanks
  11. Well i went out to have a look under the car today to try and source the leak and i can see quite a lot of water staining on the side of the sump however i cannot see where it is coming from! I removed the top timing belt cover as i assume that if the water pump is leaking then surely the belt should be getting wet but the belt and everything else under that cover is perfectly dry! I did see damp on the side of the lower cam cover, about level with the n/s engine mount however im not sure if this is water or a bit of power steering fluid thats dripped down as the p/s reservoir is a bit leaky... Hmmm?
  12. My Gti has started loosing quite a lot of coolant lately, its started off as a minor leak a couple of months ago and is now bad enough to empty the header tank every 50 miles! however i cannot pinpoint exactly where the leak is coming from? I get a puddle on the floor directly below the cam belt and i can see water staining / dampness down the sump on the cam side which leads me to believe it could be the water pump gasket? I don't know for certain tho as i have never removed and looked at a zetec engine properly before to get a true idea of what parts are where. Could someone confirm that this is a likely cause, and how awkward is it to fix? The leak is defiantly not from the header tank or connecting hose. thanks for the help.
  13. Oh, so the legs are the same then! thats a bonus! for some reason, for years i have been under the belief that they was slightly lower! Oh well, that makes it an easier fix than first thought then! Thanks for the help!
