  1. After checking all of the above it would appear to be bump steer. (thank you for all the sensabile remarks. Driving for 28 years without even a parking ticket). Bridgestone tyres MOT 3 weeks ago by a very good garage who would fail it if it was a grey or almost fail. All in all it would appear it is something i will have to live with, or would putting flexi's on it make it any better ?????
  2. Mk6 1.6 16v Zetec. The front of my car skips around in the wet or dry if i go over anything thick than a fag paper. I have replaced the lower arms and the link arms a year ago and have only done 5K miles since. Brakes and wheels are fine as is the tracking. Any ideas would be gratefully received.
  3. Is the meet still on. Its a lovely sunny day ?????????
  4. I'll be there. Hope it's a sunny day.
  5. Have we got a date yet ???????????????????????????????????????????
  6. Sounds daft, but you did remember to swich on the headlights first as they need to be on in-order for the front fogs to work.
  7. Add me to the list, would deffo go if its at whitley or surrounding area.
  8. Id be up for whitley or anywhere near as i live in Gosport. Is there going to be a meet?????????
  9. Alternator is naff. Sounds like rectifier is fried allowing current to flow into windings and draining battery. Easy test is as you have done already, pull all fuses and only thing left connected is to starter motor and alternator. Disconnect alternator and reconnect everything else check voltage. If no voltage drop then replace alternator. Try scrappy or Halfords do a decent price when you return/take in your one.
  10. Car back up and running yesterday. Runs better than before. Person who had it in past did not put spring and new post for cam belt tensioner, infact no post and spring on the tensioner at all. So looks like headgasket failure saved me having to buy a new car.
  11. Try some K-seal or steel seal as a cheap temp measure. Worked for me for a while.
  12. Its the head gasket. Mine was doing exactly the same thing. Took the head off tonight/ lastnight and the head gasket was gone at No.4. Easy check- pull the spark plugs. 3 will be the same and 1 diff. Thats the cylinder were the gasket has gone. All bits inc bolts new cam belt and pullys and bolts from Camberley auto factors £94.06inc vat. You will need a long Tx55 bit and dont forget to get the head skimmed. I found a guy who does it for £15 and i have used him several times on diff cars. I am not a mechanic by trade, i just cant afford garage prices. Hope this helps.
