  1. They open up, I've just cleaned and adjusted the contacts on mine as a temporary measure until I can get another one. Pop the contact out, (4 metal clips), unplug it, on the side of the boot light contact, there's 2 small slots, pop a small terminal screwdriver, (flat head) in and push the copper contact out, you'll see inside the spring mounted contact that touches the 2 small metal plates, quick squirt of contact cleaner and scrape the crap off with the screwdriver and it's good as new.
  2. You'd be surprised, my cousin paid more for a brand new 1.2 Corsa SXI than I did for the Merc!!!
  3. Some updates since last time I posted on here. Sold the Range Rover as I fancied a change, so bought a Mercedes CLS 320CDI http://images115.fotki.com/v607/photos/9/1133479/9924929/IMG_1965-vi.jpg http://images109.fotki.com/v779/photos/9/1133479/9924929/IMG_1968-vi.jpg And because the Merc will be useless in the snow, another GTI http://images58.fotki.com/v279/photos/9/1133479/8241921/IMG_2073-vi.jpg
  4. They had a couple of them at the MPH show last year, I had a good poke about inside, it's put together pretty well and seems like it's up there with the Mini in terms of build quality, interior plastics etc. Should be fun to drive too, but as said, it's still French!
  5. My brother had an SRI 130 or some balls. Was an ok car, not very exciting, average interior, basically anonymous ok daily runner, until one of the cylinders warped.
  6. You'd have a bit of a struggle to find a W210 Mercedes that hasn't rotted away, I was after one a few years back but every single on was rotted. Leading edge of pretty much every panel rots on them. A customer of mine had a 3 year old one and ended up having a big row with Mercedes about rust, in the end, he managed to get 3 doors, boot lid, bonnet, 2 wings and rear arches replaced under warranty. 3 years later, back in the same position. Plus they're pretty dated on the inside too, (more than the 850 lol ) Smooth V6's though.
  7. Cheers. I really wish I hadn't sold the A4, awesome all rounder
  8. 850R all the way! As said, a RICA and it's a brilliant all rounder. Even the Auto's are good if you use the 'box properly.
  9. But I can afford to run it I'm not complaining, I knew the car would be rubbish on fuel, I didn't buy it for fuel economy.

    rust :(

+1 Only way to get rid of rust if to cut it out, even kurust and rust convertor jelly stuff doesn't do the job 100% It still comes back.
  11. Seems pretty fuetile saying as they're looking at putting VAT upto 18.5% after the next election anyway. Still sucks though, especially when £50 of fuel (half a tank) only gets me around 200 miles in the Range Rover
  12. Sit on the fence why don't you To the point FTW
  13. Hideous. I honestly can't say there's anything decent about it except the morettes. It looks like quite tatty, interior looks a mess, (is that a big stain on the drivers seat?) I can well imagine it's been thrashed to bits too. If it was my money, I'd avoid it.
  14. My 2000 van had one, but saw plenty of 1999 registered ones that didn't. So possible late '99/2000?

    Question?

I think you'll have bother trying to get the vents re-routed, iirc, there's just a big plastic outlet that the dash vents sort of click into, you'd probably need to chop off the outlets that the vents click onto and block it up, then run some tubing down to the bottom and somehow make the outlets fit onto the tubing then onto the vents. I don't really think it would be worth the hassle as to do that, you'd probably need the dash out.
