  1. You believe what you want to believe Craig, if you think you will be able to buy mint softspokes with brand new tires, freshly painted morrettes, and Gaz gold coilovers (If you can even find these coilovers secondhand) for £500 then you deserve a medal, matter of fact is your argument is lost on me and anyone else who knows what things are worth
  2. Your very welcome, considering you don't know me or my circumstances I shouldn't have to justify myself to you or anyone else on this site for that matter, but just so you have a little insight as to why you should get off your high horse I'll let you into a small part of my life. I was made redundant from my last valeting position as my employer was retiring, and employment Is thin on the ground in dealerships with subcontractors going in very cheap with tenders and employing school Leavers for as little as possible with me not getting a look in. So I was toying with the idea of selling the car to buy a van and go mobile instead, I have a daughter to provide for so I'm willing to do whatever I have to. Since making this post a supervisory valeting position has become available and I applied for it, I have an interview tomorrow and from the telephone interview I had the MD said I have pretty much got the job, tomorrow is merely a formality for me to show them that I'm not talking out of my arse. So if this has wasted your time, in the politest way possible, I couldn't give a Fcuk, if it's made you realise that you shouldn't assume before knowing the facts, then there's a blue Peter badge on it's way to you.
  3. Without sounding funny I could sell the wheels headlights and suspension for that, this is where my dilemma lies because I really don't want to break it for bits No, you couldn't. Fully refurbished mint softspokes with brand new tires I'd be putting up for £475, fresh painted morrettes with bumper indicators all mint will be £150 and Gaz gold coilovers would be £300, I'm only 75 quid off that grand, wether you think those prices are fair or not is upto you but I know they would sell at that price, I'm not an idiot that will let things go for nothing, if it ever came to selling those parts they would be the prices, wether they were sold here, eBay, pistonheads or locally, but they are not for sale, and this post was made to ask the opinion of the worth of the car as a whole, and that has been established between a few posters, my circumstances have now changed and I no longer need to sell the vehicle, so thank you to those who posted about my original question and thank you for the nice comments about the car, mods please close the topic now thanks
  4. There is a thread in sutm somewhere matey
  5. When I did mine I removed; 1. Remove both front wheels 2. Split track rod ends from hub with a ball joint separator 3. Undo both Hub nuts 4. Remove calipers and carriers just for ease of moving the hub aroun when removing driveshafts 5. Split bottom ball joint on lower arm - hub 6. Drop gearbox oil 7. Remove driveshafts an plug holes up with rags 8. Support engine with a transmission jack 9. Remove clutch cable, speedo cable and other wires attached to the gearbox aswell as removing gear linkage 10. Remove all bell housing bolts and starter motor 11. Remove front gearbox mount an rear gearbox mount 12. Twist gearbox anti-clockwise and lift over rear threaded gearbox mount 13. Remove gearbox 14. Remove clutch 15. Fit new release bearing into gearbox after cleaning inside of bell housing 16. Using a clutch alignment tool fit new clutch and tighten up nuts in a star pattern so it tightens evenly 17. Fit gearbox 18. Reverse all points from 12 back to 1. Hope this helps
  6. It's not as hard as you think to do pal the only thing you might struggle with is the rear gearbox mount can be a bit tricky, if your going to attempt it yourself just make sure you consider how it all goes together and make sure you support the engine once the gearbox mounts are removed, but if your mechanical competence is minor I'd suggest just paying a garage to do it, although it's more costly at least you know it'd be done right
  7. Well things have taken a bit of a change, I don't really need to sell it now, I've got everything to do a zvh turbo on it bar a few components and needing to get my 2.0 bottom end machined to accept my pistons etc, and a friend at a bodyshop is offering to refurb my softspokes cheap..... Options options :-/
  8. When and where is that? Lower promenade in Blackpool this Sunday, there's usually a few escort evo members there, if you google Blackpool ford day the website address will be there fir you to look at Thanks Martin appreciate the nice comments
  9. Thanks for the input guys see you at ford day if any of you are attending
  10. Haha no my car will be for sale there
  11. This is my problem I've added up how much I'd get for breaking it for Bits with all the parts and it's over 2 grand but If I stick £1995 Ono in the window it's a lot of money to ask from somebody just for an escort gti lol
  12. Without sounding funny I could sell the wheels headlights and suspension for that, this is where my dilemma lies because I really don't want to break it for bits
  13. Cheers guys but just to be clear when I sell this I will not be braking it, it will be sold as a whole
  14. Hi guys not really sure which section to put this in, its not a for sale thread although the car has to be sold, more a what price should i put it up for kind of thread...... Due to personal circumstances Im having to let the car go, and I intend on advertising it at ford day in blackpool for those of you that are coming and might show any interest, i know what things are worth but I don't know where abouts to value the vehicle as a whole? Spec: Ghia Grill painted in opel 256 grey 17" softspokes In anthracite GAZ coilovers (height and stiffness adjustable) with key Two recent front tyres 4 months ago, and one brand new rear tyre less than a month ago Twin powerflow stainless exhaust with oval exits Morrette headlights Full red and black leather interior New clutch kit fitted two weeks ago New rear wheel bearings fitted a month ago Toad alarm with full closure and boot pop Smoked bottom half rear lights Indicators relocated into front fogs Wind deflectors and sunroof wind deflector Electric windows mirrors and sunroof Power steering Smoked side repeaters Ford Racing bonnet raisers Red rocker cover Electric height adjustable front seat Rear registration plate lights converted to modern led lighting so not a dull yellow anymore. spare wheel with nearly new tyre on Folder full of history and receipts This vehicle is HPI CLEAR! Bad points: Tracking needs doing Abs light is on due to rear wheel speed sensor being broken, this does not affect how the brakes are working though. Rear arches are starting to bubble onto the rear quarters, nothing major and there is plenty of time to save them. A few light scratches here and there but nothing major Drivers seat base leather is slightly worn, the red has gone in a few areas on the seat base. The heaters do not work due to the resistor pack failing, I have the part to fit I just havent had time to do it yet, this means the air conditioning also doesnt work. Slight power steering fluid leak from the bottle. A few pictures: http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i52/cabriolet_dan/250801_10150187399229895_508819894_6857013_6588826_n.jpg http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i52/cabriolet_dan/230454_10150177074959895_508819894_6783859_3280638_n.jpg http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i52/cabriolet_dan/164324_494982524894_508819894_6044389_8187771_n.jpg the gti sticker is now gone. It doesnt have any faults that are major on it at all, it drives fine and handles brilliantly, although its a little too stiff for some people.... It has 11 months mot and 5 months tax, 96k on the clock I hope this doesnt appear as a for sale thread because im not advertising it here until I can settle on a fair price bearing in mind what all the bits are worth etc, this is merely for a price to stick in the window at ford day should anybody show any interest. Thanks in advance guys and please moderators move this to the correct section if you feel its in the wrong one Dan.
