  4. Perfect reply, thanks mate got a few more things in my head to look at now, hopefully should be able to shed some light on the matter some point this weekend depending on the weather
  5. Easy to replace? will have a look into this tomorrow when Ive got some time. thanks Stu
  6. A list of the most likely parts would be nice
  7. I will replace this when i can afford a new one mate, at the moment its just swapping parts from what iv got available. read into the wishbone remnoval process before doing the job and it was described as a pain in the ass, i can see how it would be if doing it alone but luckily none of the bolts were too seized up and between 2 of us we had both wishbones out within 30mins so after payday these will both be replaced. But for now I need to find the cause of the knocking???? lol
  8. My temp guage has suddnly stopped working, I have taken off the plugs on the thermostat housing and made sure they are clean and replaced and still the same problem. Everything else on the clock works fine. I have another GTi escort which i am scrapping within the next few weeks which dosent have this problem so any parts needing to be replaced are available. Any help on this would be much appreciated as i would like to have my car in perfect working condition before scrapping the other GTi. Anybody know a common cause of this problem? Thanks Sam
  9. Hi all, I have a knocking noise coming from the passenger side wheel area whilst in gear and driving, the noise almost completely dissapears when put into neutral and coasting. You can feel it in the passenger footwell whilst being driven around. The knock appears to happen each turn of the wheel. (Its not a whirring bearing noise and there dosent seem to be any play in the bearing) I have another escort GTi which dosent have this problem which I am scrapping soon and therefore would like to replace anything on my current car to get it perfect before it goes. I have investigated the area a couple of times now trying to eliminate this problem, I have replaced the passenger side drive shaft whcih didnt work, whilst doing this i noticed the shock was leaking badly so replaced that. Next suspicion was the wishbone and ball joints, i got them off the old escort ready to swap over but when i took the current wishbone out it was in better condition than the old one and didnt look very old at all so it went back on. so far they are the parts i have changed over (and the pads and discs in the process). Has anybody got any idea what could be causing this? Any help much appreciated Sam
  10. Just trying to get rid of a few last bits, the DTM splitter can be bought on ebay around £80 unpainted, mines painted in red so could save somebody the time and money if they want it, it has one tiny mark on it as shown in the picture which becomes practicly un-noticeable when fitted to the car. These items are for collection from Sandwich Kent Contact Sam: 07772190275 Peco Backbox - £30 ono DTM front splitter - £50 ono Alloys (these are kirbed and have always been kirbed since I bought them - if you check my threads with the pics of when I was driving the car you will see they still look good after a clean up) - will also need new tyres - £50 http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z234/icewater01/08462335-a77a-40f5-8562-99ba617b9730.jpg http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z234/icewater01/820959e0-fcc6-484c-9496-3546e72f9ea4.jpg http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z234/icewater01/6d377137-06d8-4e6c-90dc-2c26327c6493.jpg http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z234/icewater01/cbcb8d5c-9980-436e-8360-73e302776a36.jpg http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z234/icewater01/Splitter3.jpg http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z234/icewater01/Splitter2.jpg http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z234/icewater01/Splitter1-1.jpg http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z234/icewater01/19022009044.jpg http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z234/icewater01/19022009047.jpg http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z234/icewater01/IMGP0062-1.jpg
  11. The wires that connect together on the actual alarm have colour coded plugs so you cant go wrong with them, as for where they connect into the cars loom you would need to download the wiring diagram, if its a mk 6 escort you are wiring it into, mines still on the drive so i could go out and look at which wires the connections were made to to help you. heres a pic iv just taken including the 2 key fobs and user manual - the user manual has the alarm pin written on the inside for programming the alarm. http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z234/icewater01/e87c0f11-7d2d-4970-b85d-194c5cc52d5c.jpg
