  1. Hi Mate, I was going to build a turbo'd escort and instead took the plunge and bought this: http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h183/SUBARU_2006/947043_10151471644744217_43183862_n_zps17ee23a3.jpg JDM Integra Type R, youll pick one up for under 4k easy with UK cars in the region of £2-3k Handling Incredible - named best handling front wheel drive car of its time, and it flatters you as a driver All sorts of standard bracing and design for weight reduction Performace: Its about 200bhp, LSD and short raito box means ive beaten WRX Subarus up the 1/4 mile then drove home and got 32mpg Looks: Ok it could be deemed as "Chavy" mine is completely standard and ill keep it that way, it has the red recaro seats which as they are recaros dont need any description, momo leather wheel and titanium gear knob It weights about 1000-1100kg so it fair shifts, honestly theres absolutlety no way you will make an escort as good with even more than the £4k youre thinking of spending. Cos the teg spanks ST fiestas and focus's let alone RST and RS2k No brainer, maybe its not your kind of thing. I needed MPG and performance so a Subaru etc was a no go as i couldnt deal with 19-22mpg maybe your commute is shorter than mine! haha hope that helps
  2. So what's everyone doing for New Year's Eve? I'm 22 and it's probs going to be a quiet one don't want 2014 starting with a hangover and empty wallet haha! Also any resolutions? I know they usually fall to rubbish pretty rapid haha Mine - get on at work, I've just graduated and started in a graduate job so I wanna fire into that! Build a track car and get out racing! Look into some sort of business etc where I can use my skill and make some cash to save for cars and flat! Usual get fit stuff Other than the first one it'll probs fail and ill spend everything on nothing lol So what about you lot?
  3. Haha this one is past even Gary's talents! There is literally nothing to weld to, some parts I didn't undo the bolts I just pulled it off the car :/
  4. I think fiesta would be a good project but like Slee said mk3 fiesta could be just as crusty. This cost me under £200 so I'm not going to loose on it. There is a RS1800 shell for sale near for £150 so we shall see. Plenty time tho I'd like to get everything cleaned up and painted so that'll keep me busy if anyone stumbles across a fiesta rs2000 4x4 thread link me up! CheeRS
  5. So I bought this: http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h183/SUBARU_2006/7F32EEDB-CCF2-41CF-A55D-66D0849E6F73-2426-0000030AE49B7D14_zpsc4d3ddb6.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h183/SUBARU_2006/9A1EE994-6F7D-4C7F-A245-25C6AC214BFA-2426-0000030AFCCD1CBF_zps1a157e3a.jpg RS2000 4x4 complete minus recaros, front bumper and headlights Then after putting the engine bay back together I got it started http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h183/SUBARU_2006/8BC47487-2479-493C-B7DE-160ADE410F56-2426-0000030B0DE2AC2D_zpsf34ba057.jpg The shell is the most rotten I've ever seen, arches are gone, rear chassis legs, front chassis legs, inner arches, floor come away from inner sill etc etc So, after getting an engine crane for Christmas: http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h183/SUBARU_2006/49C54173-CA74-4D7E-BC31-69D28645AFF3-2426-0000030B2D308B60_zps1b083c35.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h183/SUBARU_2006/6E8EC94A-D252-4AB2-8A52-E4BE6796789E-2426-0000030B330BD4A6_zpsec2d7b67.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h183/SUBARU_2006/9D4317DE-5115-4A59-9327-20B5BB02A62A-2426-0000030B3B94A788_zps79323805.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h183/SUBARU_2006/9F6B17B2-9439-4450-B045-A557705A472E-2426-0000030B421349F0_zps3240ec46.jpg Back end is now off it and ill take out loom and fuel tank and rest will go in bin, plan for the running gear? Sierra (engine only) a fiesta 4x4 or if a 3dr escort comes up that isn't a rotter (aye right) then one of them. For now ill keep to my dc2 integra! Cheers
  6. I sold my last two magnex systems for £40 and £50 can pick up a full escort for £200 so I wouldn't pay £100 for just the exhaust lol
  7. That escort 4x4 is awesome dont kill it!
  8. Hi mate what exactly are you needing? Outer cvs? Brake set up? Exhaust cos 4x4 system takes a different route, and it has an arb would you need that aswell? the shocks and springs are proper crusty but they'd not be any good for track anyway.
  9. one up here in scotty land 6 point
  10. Hi guys, Breaking an rs2000 4x4 no recaro seats and been siting a few years, was running and driving a year ago when it was moved. Very rotten pm for parts, I'm in west Lothian scotland Can sell full car for £500
  11. shame the mk5 is dead, ive been looking everywhere for one but awkward im up north! keep us updated on your progress mate
  12. Or you could sell me the rear suspension set-up for my 2wd If i break it ill pm you mate, not supprised you want to change. First time ive had a look over the 4x4 and the suspension has the potential to be alot better than the 2wd beam. Could also be modified to allow for adjustment for camber and toe
  13. Well I left escorts when I got my integra but I still check the forum everyday, Recently I picked up an rs2000 4x4 and it's very rotten lol so got a few options which are: break for cash, re-shell (where the hell have all the 3dr shells gone!?) or 4x4 a fiesta Who knows lol atm putting I back together to see if it runs ok
  14. Hi mate sorry I never saw this earlier, nope engine can't say in place. •air box out •speedo cable out Clutch cable off Gear linkages off (10mm Bolt and the 17mm support) Support engine by jack using wood across the sump Here's where I usually remove the starter and all the gearbox bolts (be careful they are different lengths) bar top two and a bottom one. Rear gearbox mount is a b*stard need to remove the top part and then the three legged bracket that slots over studs in the gearbox and then nuts used to hold it on. Can get to the nuts from the wheel area, when you have the box dropped cut 10-15mm off the bottom stud to aid re-fitting! Once that's off there's a mount at the front near the washer bottled which has two 17s? Maybe 19s At this point the engine is only supported by one mount So watch what you're doing Now support the box with another jack and undo the remaining bolts Carefully lowering the engine jack and box jack until the engine is at an angle will allow you to slide the box off (fight it like mad more like) lol Btw I've assumed the driveshafts are already removed if not, you should do this at the beginning (lower arm pinch bolt out and hub nut off) Then it's a case of undoing the pressure plate (12mm?) and removing the old cluch, then fit the new one! Carful with alignment and make sure you tighten the pressure plate in opposites. New release bearing is easy, give the box a quick clean on inside and on shaft, grease on shaft. Once you've built everything back up remember to re-fill gearbox oil if you took the full shafts out Sorry for the rubbish writing I'm on my phone lol Garage is dear to me, you want to kind a mechanic that does homers looking more like £100 to fit the clutch (no vat obv) I'd help if you were closer mate
  15. Will be easy enough for you mate, the quadrant is a long ass job bout 3-4hrs in a cramped place and I'd avoid it if it wasn't needed. As for cluch get the 3 piece kit make isn't massively important on a lower power model so I'd say QH or something would be fine. You might want an alignment tool other than that can do the job with a basic socket set!
