Well, decided time was up for my XR3i project so i sold it on to someone who plans to finish it off, so at least it will (hopefully) stay on the road. So yeah, needed a new car. Had my eye on the old ST200s for a while now and this one came up on eBay with a pretty rubbish listing and not great piccies to be honest, but i thought from what he said it sounded pretty good and he was under selling it a bit. So i bid pretty much with my fingers crossed, as you do on eBay! As soon as i saw the things in the flesh i breathed a huge sigh of relief! Here's the highlights; 2000 'w' reg 2.5 v6 - 200bhp 83,000 miles. Actually clicked past 83,000 as i was driving it home FULL service history Unmarked leather Clifford CAT1 alarm MOT till Feb Tax out at the end of the month unfortunately Very good continentals tyres all round All the usual toys, which all work inc the air con I'm sure its got some kind of quick shift going on as the throw between the gears seems very short, which is good as id heard some people say it was too long! It was a beautiful on the drive home. Bearing in mind my daily last car was a ratty old 1.6 Escort on 160k it was like a different world. Thought I'd have one go to see if anyone wants to save this. I'll sell it whole as it is for 400. With all thevparts on it thats a bargain. If anyone is interested let me know quick as I'm getting a longer and longer list of request for parts!

Yeah i know mate, its a big shame, never seen another one on the road! Its all about money though, worth more in parts as is usually the case. Like i said, would listen to offers to sell whole. This is what i know it needs; Headgasket, i think. Will try and confirm with a compression test Rear arch (passenger side only) One spot on the roof. Couple of other bits but nothing else major Fan doesnt cut in Bootlid doesnt quite fit, but shuts and locks Some of the electrics are a bit 'strange', i have another fuse box though as i think thats the problem

Hi all, After much umming and ahhing and going backwards and forward ive made the difficult decision to break my xr3i project for spares. Ive put a hell of a lot of time and effort, not to mention a fair bit of cash, into this project and its actually pretty close to completion. However, i found out last weekend that i think the headgasket needs doing and a few bits of bodywork need doing too so i just feel its time to cut my losses rather than sinking another x hundreds of pounds and another few months into it. Shame really, but there you go, its been a good project and im happy with the work ive done and how its turned out so im jus going to look at it as a learning project. You all know the car as its been in the club a long long time, but for those who dont its a 1992 mk5 130ps XR3i in Pacifca blue, but its basically an RS2000 barr the engine! When i bought it i think it would be fair to say it was a complete mess, but since then ive put a lot of time and effort into bringing it up to scratch, and it now looks the part! As i said if it wasnt for the HG needing doing and a couple of bits of bodywork it would be a decent condition little car.
