af1
Hi I am Alan I was given this 1996 Escort Si by my Dad when he decided a 2 door was not practical and went for a Renault Laguna also he was fed up of the idle and cutting out problems A little history on the Car.. included somewhere is the original sales invoice from 1996 when my brothers father in law traded in an L reg xr3i for it after he owned it, my brother owned it and in about 2005 my dad owned it.. in this time the poor car has covered what my wife an i believe to be at least 200000 miles The car started having idle problems last year the garage were never able to entirely sort it it had the following work done new catnew fuseboxnew icvnew breather pipe (this year zetec did not have the rubber t peice)new lambda sensor and the thing still idles a little roughly .. since acquiring the car i have cleaned the icv out and also the maf.. this improved running a bit and today i removed the ecu (which interestingly is EEC V - more on that to follow ) and left it for a couple of hours then i connected it back up and let it idle (the fan never came on though.. even after ages) but it seems to run better now Is the fan controlled by the ecu temp sensor or the dashboard gauge sensor (as the gauge one is broken) as well as the engine being a bit shagged the bodywork isnt brilliant either it has a fair bit of rust on both arches and a big dent in the n/s rear 3/4 and the bumper is cracked but this is a 14 year old car, what is to be expected!!? some picshttp://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f268/dervpug/P1010717.jpghttp://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f268/dervpug/P1010714.jpghttp://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f268/dervpug/P1010709.jpghttp://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f268/dervpug/P1010711.jpghttp://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f268/dervpug/P1010713.jpghttp://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f268/dervpug/P1010712.jpgThings ordered so farhttp://www.potn.co.uk/premier/splitfire/imsplitfireleads.jpgSPLITFIRE HT IGNITION LEADS as mine look shagged http://www.crashrepairparts.com/partimages/9971R.jpghttp://www.crashrepairparts.com/partimages/9971L.jpgArch Repair Panels L+R Work done so farFitted an aux lead to my cd changer interface so i can plug my ipod incleaned mafcleaned icvcleaned throttle bodychecked connectorst cutted one of the mirrors So thats my little projectim not sure if i want to strip it and use it on the trackmy daily 'driver' ?
